University of Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will take the same position with the Louisville Cardinals next season, after accepting a five-year deal worth $1 million annually, according to ESPN‘s Joe Schad.

Grantham has led the Bulldogs defense since 2010, with Georgia ranking 50th in total defense last season, giving up an average of 386.9 yards-per-game. Louisville ranked second under then-head coach Charlie Strong in 2013, allowing opponents just 257.9 ypg.

Grantham will join an elite group of college assistants who make $1 million or more per year with his new contract. Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris is the highest paid coordinator, making $1.3 million last season.

Grantham will work under Bobby Petrino who was rehired by the university last week.

Grantham: "Louisville wants me as their DC."

This is definitely a blessing in disguise for UGA. Grantham produced one good season in four. This is a chance to upgrade.

UGA just got a little stronger, Louisville a little weaker.

@sjhood13 I'm sure that he'll be contacted, but i doubt he leaves Saban for anything less than a HC job somewhere.
