Two Detroit Lions top the list of the most feared players in the NFL, according to a survey conducted by ESPN.com.

In the survey, 320 players were asked, “Who is the most feared player in the NFL?” Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh received the most nods, getting 61 votes, while wide receiver Calvin Johnson got 58 votes.

“If it’s feared from the context of they don’t want to play against me and they are worried about how I may affect the game and affect the offense, it’s definitely appreciated,” Suh said to ESPN.com. “It’s definitely seen as a plus and a positive. Guys have respect for you, just like guys have respect for Calvin.

“I’m surprised I edged him out, but hopefully I don’t have to edge him out and we can just be co-winners. I prefer that.”

Suh had 49 total tackles and 5.5 sacks this season for Detroit. He has racked up numerous fines from the league throughout his four-year career because of his on-field behavior.

Johnson had 84 catches for 1,492 yards and 12 touchdowns this year and was a first-team All-Pro selection from the Associated Press for the second season in a row. Often, opposing defenses revolve their entire strategy around stopping Megatron.

BURKE: 2014 NFL Mock Draft 4.0

“I can tell sometimes when they are trying to,” Johnson said, “especially when teams want to bring like one of their linemen or linebackers and put them way outside the numbers to try and get hands on me at the line of scrimmage, when they’ve got a corner out here and a safety over the top.

“So I’m like, ‘Man, let’s run the ball. Shoot, got a favorable box.’”

No, it's "fear" as in, "I'm afraid he's going to stomp on my nutsack repeatedly on national TV."

Other teams fear the Lions nearly as much as the Lions fear the playoffs.

Now if they could just win a few more games and make the playoffs

In the long run, I'm betting Suh crashes and burns like Tyson.  Thuggery is in his DNA

Yet the Lions are a limp biscuit.

Proof that good players alone, don't make a good team.  The new Lions coach better understand we're sick of underachieving millionaires in Detroit.

So it also a poll of the NFL's most feared players that don't make the playoffs.

Congratulations Suh.  It's the biggest "honor" you will ever earn in the NFL...

Whomever participated in this survey didn't understand the context of "fear."  I think people are legitimately afraid of Suh because of his tendency to step on balls, take cheap shots and get in car accidents with female passengers and refuse to let them seek medical attention.

Pretty sure they're terrified of Suh because they never know when they'll get a drop kick to the jewels.

@Joe R2 He was named to pro bowls, he received the Rookie Defensive Player of the year.  He already had honors and will likely receive more.

@JustinParisi The NFL has made it perfectly clear that anything under the neck is considered fair game.  I suggest everyone cover their jewels.
