Report: NBA approves $5.25 million Disabled Player Exception for Nets
The exception, which expires March 10, gives the Nets a chance to sign a another player to replace injured center Brook Lopez. The team must waive someone on the current roster to create roster space.
This exception allows a team to replace a player who has been injured and will be out the rest of the season or for the entire next season.
Lopez was injured Dec. 20 and had surgery to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal of his right foot last weekend.
He was leading the team in scoring at 20.7 points per game at the time he was injured. He also was averaging six rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 17 games played.
