Miami Dolphins, GM Jeff Ireland part ways
The Miami Dolphins and GM Jeff Ireland have agreed to part ways, the team announced.
The decision comes after a tough year for the team, which fell short of a playoff berth and became the subject of a league investigation into bullying after Jonathon Martin left the team after allegedly being the target of racial slurs and continued harassment at the hands of fellow lineman Richie Incognito.
Ireland took over as general manager in 2008 and was given a contract extension before the 2013 season. The team has stated that they “will conduct an immediate search to bring new leadership to head the team’s football operations.”
