Arsenal star Theo Walcott out for season, World Cup with ACL injury
Arsenal star forward Theo Walcott will miss the rest of the season and England’s World Cup matches in Brazil this summer after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, the club announced Monday.
Walcott will have surgery and is expected to require at least six months to recover.
England’s Football Association announced Monday that Walcott will not be punished for taunting Tottenham fans during his team’s 2-0 win in the FA Cup on Saturday.
As he was being taken off on a stretcher with a knee injury, Walcott signaled the 2-0 score with his fingers to the as Tottenham supporters pelted him and attending medics with coins and bottles.
The FA said it has contacted Walcott ”and reminded him of his responsibilities regarding a `scoreline’ gesture he made.”
