Al Golden not interested in Penn State job, will remain at Miami
Miami Hurricanes football coach Al Golden released a statement on Sunday confirming his commitment to the program.
Golden was viewed as a top candidate for the head coaching job at his alma mater, Penn State, after coach Bill O’Brien left the team for the NFL’s Houston Texans, but has decided to remain with the Hurricanes.
“There has been much speculation concerning my future at the University of Miami. While I am flattered that our progress at The U during an extremely difficult period of time is recognized, I am also appreciative of just what we have here at UM and I am not a candidate for another position.”
Golden just completed his third season as head coach of Miami, with a 9-4 record and a loss to Louisville in the Russell Athletic Bowl, the team’s first bowl appearance since 2010.
