The Cincinnati Reds’ GM Walt Jocketty has confirmed that the team has spoken with OF Grady Sizemore about a possible return to baseball with the team, according to CBSSports.com‘s Mike Axisa.

Jocketty says that the two sides were in contact before the holidays and that he believes Sizemore, who has not played since 2011, is healthy enough to attempt a comeback.

Sizemore was a perennial All-Star in the early years of his career, but was sidelined by multiple injuries beginning in 2009, which saw his production drop off markedly. The former Cleveland Indian appeared in only 104 games in 2010 and 2011 combined.

moves like this is why the reds won't ever be a legit contender.

Low risk high reward, give it a shot.

great just what the reds need another overpaid injury prone player. don't they already have that in ryan ludwick? has walt decided to include all players that were good years ago now instead of just ex cardinals? the bad thing about this is the guy will have a good year get his retirement contract from jocektty and the reds and go right back to being injured again just like ludwick. face it the reds had their chance the last 3 years but you stuck with the toothpick and he blew it for them.  instead of thinking of only winning now it is time to think long term also and that means giving the players in your system a chance instead of signing everybody's else's rejects!

@DODGERFAIL2013 @ElvisHitler Ron Gant says hi. So does Eric Davis.

These things don't always work out, but a minor league deal loaded with incentives with an invitation to ST is the definition of low risk high reward.
