Report: A-Rod suspension ruling could come next week

An official ruling on a possible suspension for New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez likely won’t come until next week, the New York Post’s Mike Puma reported Thursday.

According to Puma, it’s likely that arbitrator Fredric Horowitz will wait a “few more days” before making a determination.

From Puma’s article:

Initially, there was some thought Horowitz could make his ruling Thursday or Friday, but that now seems unlikely. Rodriguez’s camp had not been notified as of Thursday that a decision was forthcoming and did not expect anything to “come from out of the blue” before the end of the week.

Rodriguez’s grievance hearing to overturn his 211-game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball concluded in late November — with fireworks. Rodriguez stormed out of the hearing after Horowitz ruled that MLB commissioner Bud Selig did not have to testify. He called the hearing an “absurdity,” an “injustice,” and a farce.

Rodriguez was suspended by the league in August for alleged violations of baseball’s drug policy. The suspension came after  the league’s investigation of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic in Florida. Rodriguez’s lawyers have vowed to challenge the ruling in federal court if Rodriguez’s suspension is not overturned.

Everyone does PED's.  I do not know what the big deal is.  Arod stunk with them.  He can crush garbage pitchers, he K's whenever he faces any 1 or 2 in the rotation.  It is amazing the amount of people who think he is the only one who cheats.  A-LIGHTNING-ROD for tabloid attention to a dying pasttime.  People cannot sit focus for 3 minutes, you think they will dedicate 3.5 hours to watching a game?

MLB better make 1 strike an out and cut the games to 6 innings to keep the next generations interested.  And singing contests during the 4th inning stretch.  And lots of flashing lights for the gamers.

It boggles my mind that this process has taken so long.  Not at all fair to the Yankees, who have been needing to know if they'll have Rodriguez at all next season, or have his salary available to sign others.  My prediction continues to be that Horowitz will reduce the suspension from 211 games down to the entire 2014 season.  Rodriguez's attorneys will try to get a stay on the suspension in court, but that will be quickly denied.  After all of the nasty accusations and lawsuits Rodriguez has and will be aiming at various parts of the Yankee organization, I see no way he could ever again don the pinstripes again after the suspension is over.

Whenever you come back, A-Rod, just promise me you'll hurry up and pass Mays on the home run list, so I can listen to all the hypocritical baseball slappies over the age or 45 whine and complain.  Man, it's going to be the best, I can't wait...

Ortiz should be banned as well not to mention the entire Red Sox teams. Red Sox titles are all tainted by their heavy usage of roids and that has been admitted by former players.

having a "caption this picture" contest might prove to be quite entertaining...

Ortiz and Braun deserve the exact same suspension. Ortiz basically juiced through the entire 2013 regular and post season with no penalty.

His so-called lawyers have convinced him that although the arbitrator is going to nail him (since they antagonized him with their antics), they'll win on appeal. I am a lawyer, and my area of practice dealt heavily with arbitration.  The courts virtually NEVER throw out an arbitration determination. The courts don't care if the arbitrator made a blatantly WRONG decision - they essentially won't even address the facts or the correctness of the application of the law to the facts. The basic position of the courts is "the parties chose to bypass the courts, now they live with that decision."

There has to be out and out fraud or grossly inappropriate conduct.  One case I'm aware of, the arbitrator was sleeping with the lead lawyer for one side. But the court still wasn't looking at the case itself.

What is the hold up?  Are they hoping someone will push him off a cliff?

The way he's smiling in the picture - do you think he's looking in the mirror?

Slow news day?  Next week isn't exactly "coming soon", since they said a decision would come down sometime after the New Year weeks ago.

@ElvisHitler It must suck to be such a bitter hate monger. You are a flaming $$hat for even making that suggestion. Ortiz has not tested positive for anything for 10 years. STFU.

@ElvisHitler Not that he would, but if Ortiz wanted he could sue you and the rest of the idiots that say he juices. Matter of fact, I wish some of these players would. You all speak facts that can't be proven or have been proven to be false. What he/they would win,is a pittance, but it would stop all this. So tell wify to change name so you can have something to live off of, since losing it all to a lawsuit makes you ineligible for govt.assistance.

@ElvisHitler Ortiz passed every test given by MLB in 2013. Even the league announced that he passed. You're an idiot

@ElvisHitler On what basis would you suspend Ortiz?  "I think he juiced" is not enough of a reason.

@JerryBelle Slow troll day? They said on multiple shows/blogs/radio that the decision would be this Thurs or Friday. Article is explaining why it's not. CRAZY RIGHT?
