Report: Jim Schwartz fired as Detroit Lions head coach
The Detroit Lions have fired head coach Jim Schwartz, sources tell NFL.com‘s Albert Breer.
Schwartz took over as coach in Detroit in 2009 and has since led the Lions to a 29-51 record with a playoff appearance in 2011, which resulted in a wild-card round loss to the New Orleans Saints.
The Lions failed to win the NFC North this season despite being the only team in the division to avoid injury at the QB position. Star WR Calvin Johnson did miss two games and was hampered throughout the season with a knee injury, and Nate Burleson missed extended time after injuring his arm in a car accident.
Per Lions source, Jim Schwartz has been fired as head coach.—
