The New York Jets are keeping Rex Ryan and are willing to extend his contract through 2015.

According to Kim Jones and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jets are open to extending Ryan’s contract, which expires in 2014. Ryan is reportedly “resigned” to getting just a one year extension.

Jets owner Woody Johnson announced Sunday that Ryan would keep his job for the 2014 season. Ryan is 46-40 as the Jets’ head coach, including postseason games.

How is this even news or surprising? Rex is probably thrilled to get the 1 year at this point.

As bad as they have been they would have been worse without him. They have no one on offense and they still managed to win 8 games. I would like to see how they fare with another coach in the same circumstances. They need to get better at QB - not sure if Geno is the answer for them.

With a pay cut?

He should have been fired 2 seasons ago.

He's lucky to have a job.  He's got something on Woody Johnson.
