Nets head coach Jason Kidd said a report that he’d lost the support of his players was made up.

A report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports cited team sources indicating fallout from the team’s disappointing 9-19 start had spread to Nets players and their view of Kidd’s performance as a first-year head coach.

When asked his response to the report, Kidd chalked it up to fiction.

“I just coach and get my guys ready,” Kidd shrugged, flashing a smile at the podium following the team’s 104-93 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. “I can’t answer to what you guys make up. I’m sorry. I don’t have an answer to that question.”

Nets players have publicly defended an embattled Kidd.

“Jason’s been talking with me and the coaching staff has been talking with me,” Shaun Livingston said after putting up 20 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in the win. “It’s an up-and-down season, the hardest thing to do is to stay consistent.”

Deron Williams, Kevin Garnett, and Mirza Teletovic also had words of encouragement and backing for Kidd, though Garnett acknowledged that keeping a locker room together takes work. “(We’re) trying to work through what Jason wants us to do. It’s not easy at times, but we’ve been trying to be consistent with listening and being positive.”

MAHONEY: Russell Westbrook’s injury brings player treatment into question

A slew of lopsided losses and Kidd’s inexperience have been magnified by owner Mikhail Prokhorov increasing the Nets’ payroll to $189 million with the addition of former NBA champions Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, plus All-Stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.

On Monday, Kidd, blasted his players following a 103-86 blowout at the hands of the Pacers.

“It’s getting very close to just accepting losing,” Kidd said. “We’re kind of getting comfortable with losing. We’ve got to make a stand with that because when things get tough, do we just give in?

I believe they still have a chance as long as they hire Phil or Karl as coach

Your teams record isn't made up thats for sure

It's ridiculous to sign a guy to coach players he was probably partying with three months ago. If I'd spent a night doing Jager bombs and bird-dogging sl*ts  with my boss I certainly wouldn't listen when he implored me to "act professional."

Kidds coaching knowledge is also "made-up".

Did he have the locker room in the first place?

shame on the whole organization for putting together a truly championship potential roster (we can't deny the talent) and a guy with NO coaching experience or knowledge. Kidd was a player and coach on the court. He was a leader and that's as far as his credit goes. Just because you round up your guys on a court does not mean you have what it takes to be a coach, let alone a great one. If the Nets really want to turn things around, it starts with firing Kidd.

The players wanted to tag Kidd as the source of their problems....

But they totally missed...

Report of lost locker room 'made up.' Report of lost season, not so made up. Report of lost job, coming soon.

@Phllip "a truly championship potential roster"

I'll admit, I didn't see this train wreck coming before the season started.  What I saw and wrote on several sites like this was that the Heat would win the East, the Pacers and Bulls would fight for the 2nd best record in the East (due in part to the Bulls playing so hard in the regular season due to Thibs and of course I thought Rose would be healthy) and that the Knicks and Nets would battle for 4th.

I only had them as the 4th or 5th best team in the East just before the season began.

KG and Pierce are too old and Williams hasn't been the same player in Brooklyn like he was in Utah.

If you had the Williams from his Utah days and KG and Pierce from that time frame too (meaning many yrs ago) then your comment about a "truly" championship potential would be more believable.

PICK any coach you want and put him with this group from day one of the preseason and I'm sure they would be much better, likely in first place due to their division being terrible, but they would NOT be a true title contender.

of course there's far more problems than just Kidd, but he's one of them. The play calling and execution is horrible. Guys are standing around with no clue on how to defend or make an offensive play. -That- has nothing to do with injuries.

@Sportsfan18 @Phllip i mean because of their age, i doubt they'd get past the Heat or Pacers, but Joe Johnson, D Will, Pierce and Garnett are true skilled veterans so you can't deny the competitiveness they'd give that Could get them past the Pacers at least.

@Sportsfan18 i agree with everything u said 100% too. I never had the Nets higher than a 5th seed and that's being nice. And on that note, this season is SO disappointing bro..i had the East stacked up all the way to the 6th and 7th seed..Heat, Pacers, Bulls, Knicks, Nets, Detroit, Cavs, and Hawks were who i was expected to make the playoffs in that order. 3rd place Hawks are only 3 games above .500 and the only team they've beaten that IS Above .500 is the Clippers.
