Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is firing back at the agent of his quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, for saying the team was setting Pryor up to fail by starting him in the season finale against the Denver Broncos.

Pryor’s agent Jerome Stanley did not think it was a good idea for his client to play against the Broncos, who own the AFC’s best record.

“I think they’re putting him in hopes that he fails,” Stanley said via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. “That’s what I think Coach is doing. I think they’re putting him in hopes that he has a bad game, so [Allen] can then justify the Matt McGloin situation. I think that’s what’s going on, I do, and it’s ridiculous.”

Allen didn’t take kindly to what Stanley had to say.

TROTTER: Don’t Ditch Dennis

“Well, first is, I’d say that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever frickin’ heard,” Allen said Tuesday. “No coach in their right mind — this isn’t ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’ This isn’t made-for-TV drama. This is football, and we make our football decisions based solely on that. Nothing other than that.

Pryor took to Twitter to apologize, and he also spoke with Allen to work through the issue.

Pryor has completed 58 percent of his passes for 1,591 yards with five touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season, and also has 527 rushing yards.

To the Headline writer of this story: eviscerate means.... to take out the internal organs.

As far as I now, there is no man hunt on for the killer of Pryor's agent.  So, you are taking hyperbole to new lows.  Get yourself a dictionary bub.

Pryor is in his 3rd season with the Raiders, all the way to the end of that season, and his own agent has no confidence in his ability to play a reasonable game?  Against a rather mediocre defense missing its best player.  In a home game!  Amazing!

Any QB that plays for Oakland is being set up to fail.

Sports are like the real housewives shows.  its all tabloid drama.  look at this sites "articles".  Its like a soap opera.  the raiders are 4-11 and have been bad for countless seasons.  the only way they can get shine is to be soap operery.  this QB is a RB who throws occasionally.  the team around him is absolutely horrid and his stats are attrocious.

The only bright spot is our punter!!!  He punts 635 times a game for a 49.1 average.  His leg must be so strong from the work he gets he could go to NASA in the offseason and boot satalites into orbit.

Punting is the foundation of every sports dynasty.  We are definitely turning the corner.

Besides Marquette King, Jennings and Roach make everyone play soccer.

Go Raiders!!!

Speaks to the dysfunction of my beloved team. Hopefully Allen and Pryor are not part of the Raider organization next year. Allen is not a good coach regardless of excuses that he did not have anything to work with. Rex in NY doesnt have much to work with and they are looking at a .500 season. As for Pryor, he is what he is... A great athlete but terrible QB. He got away with it at Ohio State like so many other QBs before him but you will eventually be exposed in the NFL. It was just very disturbing hearing him talk about how he finally learned to be a quarterback this past summer. After 9 football seasons combined in high school, college, and NFL and you finally learn to be a quarterback... I think not TP cause thats your game is, TP, after I wipe my behind with it. Damn its hard being a Raider fan..:(

Thats a fact
Thats a fact

so his agent would prefer that his client sit on the bench at the end of the season in a down note with his lousy stats instead of getting a chance (no matter how small) to at least try to impress the coaches or another team ???

For a player that doesn't have anything bright on his sheet, any game opportunity should be a welcome thing.  His agent is worrying about 5 steps down the road.  He may never get 5 steps down the road.

This will be the easiest chance at a win possible, PM will not play much and we've seen how the defense can give up big plays.

Pryor has five touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season,

Have they played the Broncos every time Pryor started?

I am sorry, I thought it was every players dream to start in the NFL? What is his agent? A retard? Why in the world would you complain that your client is STARTING in the NFL? What a Dumba$$

Agents are ruining professional sports.

does this writer know the meaning of the word eviscerate? based on the definition Coach Allen did nothing close to eviscerating the Agent. Stop with the dramatics.

Most agents want their clients to play but this agent is basically saying that he doesn't feel his client is good enough to compete against the best in the league.  If Pryor is smart he loses this agent and hires one who actually believes in him.

@effeweall

Right.

Because RBs generally have 3 times as many passing yards as rushing.

@CALI_DREAMING Matt Flynn threw 4 touchdowns in the second half of the Packers game against Dallas.  If the Pack wins this week against Chicago, Flynn is in the Playoffs.  Getting out of the Raiders is a Golden Opportunity ask Carson Palmer.

@Uhclem49 Raider Fans care and yes despite sucking, there are still a lot of Raider fans, not flavor of the month, team of the week fans.

@Tank God bless you for this comment. I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that.

@Tank Totally agree. More like he mildly rebukes Pryor's agent.

@Tank Now the headline says "rips" so someone is paying attention. I like "mildly rebukes" myself.

@BY@TankWell, let's be fair to Scooby. The lead-in contained "Eviscerate", the title of the article contained "Rips". He may not control all things, in which case it's likely to be his editor...
