Masahiro Tanaka’s NPB team, the Rakuten Golden Eagles, may be planning to post the pitcher, according to Sopinichi as translated by the Los Angeles Times’ Dylan Hernandez.

Early reports indicated that the Golden Eagles would not allow the ace to leave for the big leagues after leading his team to victory in the Japan Series. However, Rakuten team president Yozo Tachibana told reporters that the team had not yet made a decision on Tanaka’s future as of last week.

Tanaka went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA last season and has asked his team to allow him to go to a MLB team. The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Angels are all believed to have interest in Tanaka, according to CBS Sports.

The MLB and NPB recently reached a new agreement, limiting posting fees to $20 million dollars per player.
