Washington State QB jaws with Colorado State coaches in New Mexico Bowl

NCAAF
Washington State QB spars with CSU coaches

Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday threw five first-half touchdown passes against Colorado State in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday.

But he also took some time to trash talk.

After his first TD pass — a 25-yarder for the first score of the game — Halliday ran toward the CSU sideline and started yelling at a few Rams coaches. They answered back with some choice words.

At halftime, the Cougars (6-6) led CSU (7-6), 35-23. Colorado State drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a 4th-and-22 in the first quarter, and one play later, Halliday threw his third TD pass.

This article made no sense, didn't clarify a thing. Is SI hiring middle school kids to write for them?

I wonder why SI is the only sports entity not reporting about what the coach actually said?  The coach his since been made to issue an apology for what he said and how he acted.

Odd, i didn't see this prick QB jaw AFTER the game like that. Wonder why, since he thinks he is so great.

Poorly edited GIF there. In fact, the WSU QB was only on the CSU sideline because he was flushed that way and then was running back to the other side of the field when the CSU coaches began yelling at him. That was when he turned and walked back. Besides that, some of the words used by the CSU coach were pretty abhorrent and obvious on TV.

He also lost the game...Three fumbles in a row and being an idiot is the way to go out...

Classy coaches... what next, going to head out to a grade school and start taunting little kids?

@WHO*IS*ESPN There is the old saying that says "it takes one to know one" and you prove it to be right.  Now would you care to find out what Colorado State has asked their coach to do?

@Jim_Flannigan_234  Bull. He should have been flagged for taunting. He should be proud that the only thing he can do is bring out the worst in people.

@Tom75 It's WSU, they don't really count as a Pac 12 team.

Well, 1-1 now against non big conf teams. I'm just bitter because it affected bowl pick'm.

@CoolDid you miss the part where it was the QB taunting the coaches after throwing a touchdown and not the coaches taunting anybody?

Words...they can be your friends! Read them next time.

@Cool Second coach was just telling him to 'get back ... over there (?)', that's not trash talk.  Karma.

@CoolClassy coaches? Didn't the QB go over and start the taunting? Now, the coach could have turned away but if I start barking in your face and you don't like it and respond, does that make you the "bad guy?"

@Wesley11 @Cool Did you miss the part where you got it backwards?

Smarta$$es... always with foot in mouth.

@Wesley11 @Cool Can you read lips and see what the coach said to the player?  My guess is we will be getting an apology from the coach after Colorado St officials get done speaking with him.

@mjt424 @Cool The player (college student, not the adult male hired to be an example) was flushed that way and the coach (reminder, the man hired to be an example) call's the kid a homophobic name.   I repeat what I said and I stand by what I said.

No, the QB was in the area after a play minding his own business when the coach taunted him verbally. The QB jawed back. Nothing more to see here. Move along.

@mjt424 @Cool No, not really. If you had watched more than just the GIF SI.com showed, you'd see he was actually running away when the CSU coaches started yelling at him. That was when he turned and walked back at them. This GIF is very misleading.

@bobinpowell@mjt424@CoolThe coaches are in a competitive state of mind and some player comes over to start trash talking? The second coach broke it up. I have no problem with him. The first coach could have chosen to ignore the QB but in the heat of the moment he barked back. He didn't go Woody Hayes on him. The player to me is the one in the wrong here. He ended up with great stats but went home with a loss and probably behavior he will have to explain.
