Alex Murphy, a 6-8 redshirt sophomore, intends to transfer to Florida, he told Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com.

Murphy’s older brother, Erik, played for the Gators and was a second-round pick of the Chicago Bulls in 2013. His father also played in the NBA.

“I really appreciate the experience at Duke, playing for a Hall of Fame coach in Mike Krzyzewski,” Murphy said on Wednesday. “I learned a lot as a player and a person.

“I’ve gotten a chance to know [Florida] coach [Billy] Donovan and the program. I think it’s a great fit for me to continue my career. I think they can help me develop as a player — and that I can help them a lot as well.”

Murphy, who went to high school in Massachusetts, also considered Rhode Island, Providence and Northeastern.

He played just 33 minutes this season, averaging one point and one rebound after he redshirted last year after suffering a concussion in the preseason.
