Yankees sign LHP Matt Thornton to a 2-year deal

The New York Yankees have signed left-handed reliever Matt Thornton to a two-year deal worth $7 million, according to the New York Post‘s George King.

Thornton finished last season with the Boston Red Sox after being traded by the Chicago White Sox where he had played since 2006.

The 2012 All-Star finished last season with a 3.74 ERA  in 43.1 innings of work, his highest total since 2007.
