Notre Dame readmitted suspended quarterback Everett Golson to the university, the school announced Friday.

Golson admitted to Sports Illustrated that he was caught cheating on an exam last spring, which led to his dismissal from the school.

Golson led the Irish to the BCS National Championship Game last season, but the Irish lost to Alabama 42-14.  He threw for 2,405 yards with 12 touchdowns and rushed for 298 rushing yards with six touchdowns.

Golson will not be able to practice with the team during their bowl preparations. Notre Dame plays Rutgers in New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in New York on Dec. 28.

He has spent the past few months working with quarterback coach George Whitfield Jr., after being suspended from school.

I've been following the kid's story and it sounds like he learned a valuable lesson and will be a better player and a better man for it.

And let's just ask – how many of those "big time" college programs would have thrown a star quarterback out of school for cheating on a test? 'Bama? Auburn? Florida State? Oklahoma State? LSU? USC? Seriously, can you think of ANY likely to have done what Notre Dame did?
