The Dallas Cowboys defense have given up 490 yards or more in a game five times this season and currently are ranked dead last in the league in total defense.

Despite those stats, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones says he stands by Monte Kiffin, the defensive coordinator who is in his first season with the team.

“He takes it personally; it’s hard on him,” Jones said on radio show Tuesday. “Very hard on him. He’s been doing this a long time.

“At his age [73], he’s had a lot of different experiences. With all of that in mind, he’s just got a resolve and he doesn’t in any way reject the responsibility. As a matter of fact, he invites it all on himself.”

KING: The ’Boys Are Blowing It

The Cowboys still have a shot at the playoffs. At 7-6, they are one game out of first place in the NFC East and face Green Bay, Washington and division-leading Philadelphia in their final three games.

“To fix what we’re doing, there’s nobody I’d rather have than [Kiffin] and Rod Marinelli,” Jones said. “First of all, [Kiffin] knows what’s happening more than anyone. If there are adjustments to be made, he’s the right man for the job.”

They ran Monte out of  USC last year and one would think (after they signed him-Monte )  that the Cowboys won the Super Bowl... In his prime , at Tampa Bay, he was a great defensive coach and all that  but those days are over with ..Seventy-- three years ... Monte peaked five years ago ...Too old ...period ..Could hear all the redskins fans screaming if Snyder signed  Monte to a contract  year before last .....Cowboys made a big mistake signing him ....

Can Jerry be any more of a moron than he already has shown himself to be for the last 20 years or so? Way to go Monte. You're doing a heck of a job. The Cowboys couldn't stop a high school team an they can't blame it all on injuries. They just have no clue about what they're doing. Yeah, Jerry, they've made so many great adjustments. Could Jerry be senile? Could that be what's really causing these absurd statements he keeps making?
