South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was cited by the South Carolina Highway Patrol for speeding Saturday for driving 40 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, according to WIS-TV.

Clowney, according to the report, was going 110 miles per hour in a Chrysler 300 when he was pulled over on Interstate 77 Saturday night around 7:30 p.m. The highway’s listed speed limit is 70 miles per hour.

Officials say he was immediately ticketed and that no other citations were issued in the incident.

Clowney, a junior, had 35 total tackles, three sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss this season. He is expected to be one of the top picks in the NFL Draft should he forego his senior season of eligibility.

I didn't know the 300's could even go that fast.

I drive 110 mph at least once a day but I do have a sports car which was made for speed.  He probably needs to slow down in a Chrysler 300.

Yet another warning sign. Nobody should draft this dude in the first round. Wait till round 2 and save 10 million bucks. If he's already been drafted by then, so much the better. He'll be someone else's headache. Bottom line: that speeding ticket cost Clowney at least a couple a mil.

Must've been listening to some Sammy Hagar.

So what's the over/under on his first gun related incident?  I'm thinking 3 years....

That nay scare more than a few personnel departments away from the kid. Not that it matters...he'll still get paid. Whether or not he earns it will be the question...

I drive 77 everyday, Columbia to Rock Hill, I know that the state troopers regularly stop motorist on that stretch, he s lucky he didn't get arrested for going 40 over the limit.

Chrysler 300 huh? College pays pretty good, 'specially in the SEC.

Must be nice to be famous.  In my area, you go 40 MPH over the posted speed limit, you get nailed with Reckless Driving as well, and there is no real contesting it either, and an automatic 2 points on the license.

But its a famous athlete, so more proof that the laws are only made for the lowly peons, not the rich and famous

I can't imagine what GM would be dumb enough to risk even a third round pick on this Clown.

Don't think that's possible.  It's probably impossible to hear anything while performing an act of cranial rectal inversion...

@mysteryman ... Not every  football player's   parents are poor, even in the SEC .. No one said what year the Chrysler 300 is ..Could be a friend's car ... Call out the FBI  or have a grand jury investigation .....

@mysteryman Maybe his parents bought him a more economical used Chrysler 300.  They don't have to pay tuition or room and board due to his scholarship (that every college player gets).  Is it possible that you could be less of a d-bag and not so biased?  Try really hard.

@j7apple Ever make a mistake?  Ever get a speeding ticket?

Wow, nice tantrum.  Do you have an evidence that he was shown any favoritism for being an athlete or did you just pull it from thin air?

JoeCabot

Great point.  Cuz there is nothing that says a guy will be a bust like driving fast one time.

@John4 @mysteryman his mom works 2nd shift at Frito lay in Charlotte, she's not able to help him, it's probably a rental or a friend's car.

Actually, no, I've never had a speeding ticket.  Explain how driving 110 mph is a mistake--like forgetting to carry the "one" in your checkbook?

Yeah, like EVERYONE gets caught doing 100 sooner or later in life.

Oh, excuse me.  Everyone who's worth anything.  Wimpy morons who are a waste of oxygen never do, but who cares about them?  /sarc/

Joe, based on your posts, it's pretty clear your mommy must have grounded you again.

In a lot of states, 100 mph is immediate arrest and jail for Reckless Driving.

Unless, of course, you're somebody important, in which case it's, Here's a greatly reduced ticket, drive safe, now; have a nice day.

@JoeCabot Yes, we have evidence... his name is Joe Cabot and he has made quite a few comments apologizing for an idiot that drives over 100 on the roads. Would you apologize if that idiot lost control of his car at that speed and maybe killed a family? Grow up and stop apologizing for idiots. There are enough of them on the roads these days.

@TyReeder And thank you for your service for this great country.

@John4 @TyReeder I don't think racism is in play here, actually favoritism by the SC trooper is the only problem, what opinions people post should be taken as such.

John4

@playemball @John4 @TyReeder Fact is that I'm not on here making mean, biased and ignorant comments.  You have NO idea what my race is, not that it matters.  You are a know - nothing dunce.  That's the reality.

John4

@TyReeder Still, the diatribe - by others here - regarding the type of car he was driving is offensive.  Does ANYONE on this site KNOW it was bought new?  NO.  Does ANYONE on this site KNOW if it was purchased with ill gotten money?  NO.  Face the facts, college students have cars.  A Chrysler 300 (if bought used) is NOT an expensive car.  (Also, I think there would be far less backlash if the offending college student had paler skin).

@bobinpowell Bob - nice to be you.  YOU'RE obviously perfect.  What's that like?  You balance your checkbook?  Why?

JoeCabot

Bob, you are on a roll.  Breaking out the mom blasts is the height of internet cleverness.  If it were 2003.  The guy drove fast and got a ticket, yet you cyber-whiners are acting as if is beating children.   Life on your high horse must be pretty crowded - seems like a lot of you high and might types are trying to get on board.

JoeCabot
JoeCabot

If he had killed someone he would not deserve anyone's sympathy.  However, despite your doom, gloom, and misery, he simply drove a car at high speed and received a fast driving award for doing so.   Lighten up man.  Living under that black cloud of despair cannot be all that much fun.

JoeCabot
JoeCabot

Wow, you sure told me.  On an anonymous forum no less.  Now explain to me why the guy should not be drafted early simply because he chose to drive fast.
