The Cleveland Indians are willing to listen to trade offers for starting pitcher Justin Masterson, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported on Monday.

Rosenthal also reported that the Indians would look at longer-term options with Masterson, a right-handed sinkerballer who will become a free agent after next season. Going into next season, he is due for another raise in arbitration. And if he continues to produce at a high level, he could get a big contract on the free-agent market next offseason.

The 28-year-old Masterson went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA in 2013. He had 195 strikeouts and 76 walks in 193 innings, finishing out the year in the Indians’ bullpen because of an oblique injury.

The Indians are looking for rotation help this offseason, having lost starter Scott Kazmir to the Athletics. Starter Ubaldo Jimenez is also expected to leave Cleveland this offseason while fetching one of the biggest free-agent contracts on the market.

Why would you even consider trading your best pitcher?

It's the Cleveland way. Have a decent season, then get rid of your best players the next season.

Only team in major league history to trade a pitcher after he won the CY Young.

Dempster, Peavy, and a prospect...get it done and bring Masterson back to Boston!  He'll thrive under Farrell.
