The Dodgers are interested in starting pitcher David Price, and they made the Tampa Bay Rays aware of their interest, a source told Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times.

L.A. reportedly won’t aggressively pursue Price, but they told the Rays to keep them in mind should they decide to trade the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner.

Hernandez reports that the Dodgers are short on top-tier prospects they could offer in exchange for Price, but a rotation that includes Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Price may be enough to tempt L.A. into a deal.

Price, 28, is eligible for salary arbitration this year and won’t be eligible for free agency until after the 2015 season. He said back in October he expects to be traded.

In six seasons with the Rays, Price is 71-39 with a 3.19 ERA in 152 games (147 starts). After winning 20 games in 2012, he went 10-8 with a 3.33 ERA in 2013.
