Gus Malzahn has accepted a new six-year contract from Auburn University worth $26.85 million, according to Brandon Marcello of AL.com.

The new contract will pay Malzahn $3.85 million next year with a $250,000 raise in each subsequent season. The raise will make Malzahn the sixth highest paid coach in the SEC.

Malzahn has taken the Auburn Tigers to the SEC championship game in his first season as head coach, after the team went win-less in the conference under Gene Chizik in the 2012 season.

Just beat Alabama and you get a new contract? Should have told him this LAST year!

11-1 and ranked #3 in the BCS.  What part of that suggests that his new contract is based on the bama game?  None as I thought.
