Boise State names assistant Bob Gregory interim head coach
Boise State named Bob Gregory as the interim head coach of its football team, the school announced Friday.
Gregory is in his fifth season with Boise State and his second as assistant head coach. He has served as the linebackers coach since returning to the school prior to the 2010 season. He also served as the defensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2001.
Gregory replaces Chris Petersen, who left the school after eight seasons to become the head coach at the University of Washington.
Boise State has not accepted a bowl bid yet after finishing this season with a 8-4 record and 6-2 in the Mountain West Conference.
“I’m honored to represent Boise State University and Bronco Football in our bowl game,” Gregory said. “We have a great process in place, and we will continue to follow that process. We look forward to our bowl preparations knowing that our players will be excited and will play with great energy.”
“I’m appreciative that Bob has agreed to accept this opportunity and know that he will have our players focused and ready to compete in our bowl game,” Coyle said.
