UCLA coach Jim Mora has signed a new six-year contract to stay with the program, the school announced Tuesday. Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com first reported that Mora would stay with the school.

Mora had been connected with Washington’s head coaching opening since UW coach Steve Sarkisian was hired as USC’s newest coach on Monday.

Mora is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he played football and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant.

While still the coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2006, Mora said that he would be willing to leave his job to become the head coach at Washington.

Put up an article that is a month old alongside an article written today saying that Texas was interviewing Mora.   SI is right on top of things...kinda... sorta.... NAW

Be sure to let us know who won the World Series while you're at it, SI.

Thanks for the breaking news from last month.  When are you going to post the article about Mack Brown stepping down?  I want to be sure I check back so I can read it.

Uh, why is a one-month old "article" appearing today?

excellent decision... for a mediocre coach to stay at a mediocre university in football... their only hope is to beat USC every year...  what has mora accomplished anyway???  he must be very happy with his "success" at ucla (by their standards)

Hopefully he can finally get us over the hump of "second tier Pac 12" while continuing to beat the imploding Trojans.  Can't wait for the next round of NCAA sanctions, as when Sneaky Pete wholeheartedly endorses someone, you know something shady will inevitably come up.   They're probably recruiting Reggie Bush's younger cousins already.

Thank you for staying Mora. Big things on the horizon for UCLA football

If Washington were smart they would go after Orgeron!

"Mora rebuffs Washington" - Misleading headline. Bruce, how do you know that Washington even contacted Mora? There is no evidence that UW did in fact reach out to Mora at all.

So much for this being his "dream job."  As least Sark jumped at the chance to get his.

Well he was in U-dubs backyard as an assistant coach of the Seahawks when they hired Sark.  Bet Mora wanted the shot back then, now he is in a better place to recruit and excel.

This proves Mora is not a moron, because only one of those would leave UCLA for Washington.

The problem with this particular game of musical chairs is that the seat costs about three million a year...

How about 19 wins in his first two seasons in one of the toughest conferences in college football? What have you accomplished besides being an anonymous hater on The Internet?

@meats29

I not a Bruins fan, but definitely a good move by both Mora and ucla.  Washington rebuffed him when they hired Sark.

@Steve PhillipsWhen everyone was yelling for Lane Kiffin to be fired, none of them ever said that it should be Ed Orgeron getting the job.   Suddenly, after winning a few games, you guys act like he is this coaching genius.

@AZPurdue they put him on their list of potential candidates...

i think that counts

@SandHills Dude, he was the head coach of the Seahawks.  You don't walk away from that for a college job.

@SandHills I wouldn't say UCLA is a better place (seeing how it's a basketball school) but it definitely would be seen as a lateral move.

@NoQNoSuperBowl No, this actually proves that you are a retarded moron. The redundancy is warranted in your case.

@CALI_DREAMING You don't know what you're talking about. Washington never turned down Mora.

@jarrenh1 , not so. That is the presumed list, as surmised by the media. UW has not issued a prospective list. No school does.

@AZPurdue @mystafugee Yeah that sounds totally believable, about as much as USC fans telling us they wanted Sarkisian all along.

@mystafugee: says who...Brendan Maloy? It was not clear - just assumed. Maybe the UW AD soured on Mora 5 years ago, when he hired Sarkisian.
