Rockies trade Dexter Fowler to Astros for Jordan Lyles, Brandon Barnes

The Colorado Rockies have traded centerfielder Dexter Fowler and a player to be named later to the Houston Astros in exchange for pitcher Jordan Lyles and centerfielder Brandon Barnes. The Rockies announced the move Tuesday.

Fowler, a six-year veteran, batted .263 with 12 home runs for the Rockies in 2013, down from his career year of .300 and 13 homers the year before.

Lyles had a 5.59 ERA in 141.2 innings pitched last season, while Barnes had a batting average of .240 in 408 at-bats.
