Scott Kazmir has agreed to a two-year deal with the Oakland A’s, according to CBSSports’ Matt Snyder.

Kazmir spent the 2013 season pitching for the Cleveland Indians after spending 2012 in the Independent League. The 29-year old Kazmir had 4.04 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 158 innings last season to go with a 10-9 record.

After reaching two All-Star games early in his career with the Tampa Bay Rays, Kazmir fell out of favor after difficult seasons with the Angels in 2010 and 2011.

4.04 ERA with injury history and you get $11 million/year.  Cleveland was smart to not even think about entertaining this nonsense. They had him for a steal last year and had a strong season. That was value. This is idiotic.

Doesn't seem like a typical Billy Beene signing

It is amazing the money spent on mediocrity this offseason. This the best time to be mediocre and a free agent. It is like the starting price from mediocre pitching is 10 mill then negotiate up or down from there. Career .230 hitters and 4+ ERA pitchers are making elite money.

Waste of $$$!!! Something that my beloved Oakland A's don't have a lot of, I'd rather they lock up more of the Young SP since for $22 Million they could have given say Rookie Sonny Grey for a 4-5 Year Deal or used it to give Donaldson a Small 2 Yr Extension. Hell even some of the guys in Arbitration, at Best he's a Solid #4 SP who Pitches some Gems then gets Blown up for a Few Games since that has been KAZMIRS M.O. since leaving TAMPA.

@bgreen15x  Give it a shot.  If you can get hitters out you will get a job.  Let us know how it goes.
