Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has put any future quarterback controversy to rest by announcing at a press conference that Nick Foles is his starter for the next millennium, according to ProFootballTalk.

Kelly joked about his new starter’s long-term job security after conceding that Foles’ play has earned him the spot for now:

“You can say that whomever it is, is your player of the future and then next week they get hurt.  You know, so, I hope Nick [Foles] is here for a long time.  I’m a big supporter of him, I think he does a fantastic job, but we also know that injuries occur in this game and that’s why I always qualify what I say.  I love the kid and I think he’s playing outstanding.”

When asked further about the starting job, Kelly proclaimed Foles the starter for “1,000 years.”

KING: Nick Foles’ journey from backup to one of the NFL’s most important players

Foles has been strong ever since taking over the starting spot in Philadelphia after Mike Vick injured his hamstring, throwing for 19 TDs and no interceptions in 196 passing attempts.

There will be growing pains next year but he does look solid.

I am still not sold. I want to see two years out of him before we can take a "Mr. Wolfe" stance. The bad part is that there is such a great crop of QBs out there that this one run of great play could be devastating in the long run.

I know it's a little premature, but I'm saying right now that Nick Foles is a future HOFer. Congrats Philly, I predict that your Superbowl drought will end sometime in the next decade.

Chip Kelly is one lucky SOB to have inherited his franchise QB from the Andy Reid era.

@piizzadude How on Earth can you not be sold?  The guy has as good of stats as anyone not named Peyton Manning (and has yet to throw a pick), and has made the Eagles competitive.  Pretty sure that multiple NFL teams would be happy to trade QBs straight up.

@piizzadude 19 passing TD's and 0 int's and you're not sold.  Who do you suggest they start?

Kaep is a runner and Foles is gunner. No surprise that Kaep can't do shiate when he can't run, cuz he cant throw.

Foles doesn't need to run, with the leagues 2 or 3rd leading rusher, who was 1st until this week.
