The University of Florida will not fire football coach Will Muschamp after a losing 2013 campaign, according to Edgar Thompson and Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel.

A new report says Muschamp will be allowed a chance to coach the team next season, but that “significant changes to Muschamp’s coaching staff are expected after Saturday’s season finale.”

Earlier this month, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley  told the media that he was “1000 percent” confident that Will Muschamp was the right man for the head coaching job in Gainesville.

Muschamp’s Gators saw their losing streak extended to six games yesterday at the hands of Georgia Southern, the school’s first-ever loss to a non-FBS school.

If Foley stands with Muschamp then he needs to hit the road too.

I love my Florida Gators, and I stand behind the players who commit to the program 100%. However, I do not support the current football coach, because Will Muschamp has coached the Florida Gators into being the laughing stock of the SEC and college football as a whole. The decline of this great program must end now.

Will Muschamp Has To Go

My Gators deserve better than this. We need a real SEC caliber head football coach, and Will Muschamp will never be SEC caliber at anything. Go Gators!!!

The GA southern loss was quite embarrassing, but even more than the loss--scheduling them in the first place is embarrassing.  I have maintained for years that you do not schedule any team on that schedule that you are embarrassed or "can't lose to.  That is a recipe for disaster.  But as long as these high and mighty teams schedule "sure victories" and low ranked schools, these 'upsets' will happen more and more.

In fact it was no fluke that GA Southern beat the Gators.  Better coached team, better execution, better heart.  Reminiscent of many other so-called upsets of Div I schools.  Foley should be embarrassed for putting them on the schedule in the first place, assuming that the team would roll over and play dead--and be intimidated in the Swamp.

Florida hasn't lost to Georgia 3 years in a row in 30 years. The Gators have the wrong coach. But once again, that's ok..

Every member of Florida's 3rd string should start on GS. No excuse other than Florida is playing poorly. That's bad coaching. Bring the coach back for life. Geez. Go Dawgs.

Willie Muschumpis more like Gomer Pyle than a top football coach.  well Golly?

i am a UF student and I say Mushchamp can have 1 more year to see if he deserves it.  Yes the play calling sucks and yes the head coach takes any blame for losses, but lets mention the fact that this is basically a second-third string Gator team.  Countless injuries have screwed our season.  So I think he can have another year to see how he can make a major turn around.  Also, his and the players character will show when they play FSU this weekend.   Mark my words, this Saturday, there will be a good game in the Swamp.  Go Gators!!!

I'm not excusing the loss but Georgia Southern runs an offense that FBS teams have a tough time handling.  In 2011, Alabama led the nation in all major defensive categories and Georgia Southern put up more points and yards on them than anyone else.  (they did hold a few starters out but it was still a great performance).  If you don't take a triple option team seriously during the week of practice, you will get embarrassed regardless of how many stars the recruits have.  The Florida offense... well it wasn't really good in the first place.

A new OC will change nothing. It's Muschamp's Defense first philosoph that is the problem.  Until Muschamp stops being a DC and starts being a head coach, don't expect any improvement.

Foley is 1000% behind Muschamp because of the big buy out, that Foley added.  Foley tied Uf's hands to fire Muschamp.  Fire Foley too.

GTT
GTT

He needs a new offensive coordinator. That's it. Fixed. Were they not 11-2 last year? Yes. All this talk about firing coaches after one bad year is just immature, hysterical, unrealistic BS.

BADeMonte

If Foley doesn't fire Muschamp, then Foley and Muschamp should be fired by Machin.  There is no reason to keep this losing duo at UF.

Weak Will Mush Chump is terrible and so weak.  lane Kiffin clone.

Good news for Florida st and Miami keeing weak willy on hand for a few more losses.  Florida will need a decade to recover

Number of arrests since 2010:

U M: 5

FSU: 10

UF: 16

Number of players headed to death row:

U M: 0

FSU: 0

UF: 1

NCAA penalties:

U M: 1

FSU: 0

UF: 0

So how exactly is FSU the most tainted program in the NCAA? Not even the worst in the state.

Stupid, damn stupid, wonder how many empty seats will be there for the opening game.

@donald5

No offense donald5 but that is exactly what your doing. Your giving them an excuse. I think SEC fans need to just own it. It was a humiliating loss. All you ever here is SEC SEC and everyone patting each others teams on the back when they win a bowl game or a title.

SEC fans can't have it both ways. This loss makes the entire SEC look bad just like all the big SEC wins make the conference look good.

geogator
geogator

@WilliamBrady You are so right.  Foley started as a ticket seller and still thinks and acts like one.  When he sees those thousands of empty seats at the FSU game, he will realize that he and Bernie Machen are all wrong.  Foley's rise to AD is a joke by itself.  He has reached, and likely passed, his Peter Principle level of incompetence.  His two football hires have been Ron Zook and Will Muschump, who have essentially identical records at equivalent stages of their careers.  Firing Foley and his million dollar salary are not as far-fetched as some might believe.  Most people know that Foley was the one responsible for Spurrier's leaving.  It seems that we let the best one get away.

donald5
donald5

@GTT Taking out the run heavy option teams, they were in the bottom 5 of the nation in passing offense in 2012.  It was terrible.  Lat year was just a matter of playing some good teams at the right time (Manziel's 1st college game ever and LSU before they got their offense going) and ridiculously bad luck by other teams (watch the SC replay and tell me the Florida offense had anything to do with that win)

WilliamBrady
WilliamBrady

@GTT   3 yaers of inept offense.  Muschamps sets the scheme not the OC. Only if Muschamp keeps his nose out of the offense will things change.

Now, you blame The OC Pease for the lack of offense and not Muschamp. Then give DC Durkin all of the credit for the defense.  Now you are giving all of the blame or credit the OC and DC, why do we need Muschamp.

@dandogwood Wrong!! Lane Tiffin was all mouth, and no show.  Mush Chump and his squad of secret football have lost touch with the fans.  He has no personality and could not sell an Eskimo an ice pick.  Rivals.com now has Florida's recruiting class at #22, and I see today that we lost a wide receiver to Mississippi.  What a job!!  Least in East, and bottom dweller in recruiting.  Weak Willy Mush Chump certainly is appropriately named.

Adolfis

@Deesntz FSU has had 12 arrest. UF 24. There is no player from UF headed to death row. Seems all of your data is false.

Adolfis
Adolfis

@Deesntz And since most of your data is incorrect, (FSU has had more than 10 players arrested) and the fact that you tend to over look the fact that TPD lets Florida State Criminole players slide, while GPD arrests any of the college athletes shows that UF has a better no tolerance than FSU.

NeoSmith
NeoSmith

@Sklopr : You nailed it.  If there is reason to change, it is better done sooner rather than later.  Muschamp has already shown he is not the right coach by losing to Georgia Southern.  That is a team quitting.  There is something to be said about pride when talking about college football.  It looks like the Gators have lost any sense of that.

WilliamBrady

@Adolfis  You will miss him.  think a it,  Who wants to come to be with a lame duck coach.  More up starts like muschamp?  Muschamp is the problem not the OC.  Watch Pease go and be a winner.

donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 And I basically said Florida got "embarrassed" (2nd to last sentence).  I am pretty sure that is me saying they looked bad for Florida and, by extension, the SEC.  Maybe you might want to read the last sentence of your comment and reevealuate whether you grasped what I said.

donald5
donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 #1 where did I mention anything about the SEC?  You and your SEC fixation is who added that context.  I simply mentioned two teams from the SEC because I say both of those games and Georgia Southern is good.  If it was Navy that beat them, I would have pointed out games where Navy might have beaten Notre Dame.  I don't pat any SEC teams on the back for the success of any other teams.  Check my comments pal.  Find one single comment where I am on "TEAM SEC".  Just one.  I'm not an SEC fan.  I might defend attacks against teams that I think are unfair (which you seem to do the exact same thing for "team Big10") but I am not a fan of a conference.  That is some figment of your imagination.

geogator

@biasedsportsfan @BADeMonte How much did it cost the football program to sponsor all these minor sports (except basketball)?  The only thing we do not excel at is team rifle and field hockey.  Wewee!!  These sports are nice, but mostly exist because of NCAA rule on women's programs, not through Foley's foresight.  The way to make Foley pay is to stay home and leave those stands empty.  That will get his attention.  I have my basketball and football season ticket renewals ready for the trash can if there is no change in football.

Swanny

@biasedsportsfan @BADeMonte   Actually Foley is 0-2 with hiring football coaches.  Meyer's hiring should be credited to Machen because of the Utah connection.  Zook and the Chump are on Foley.

donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 Let me get this straight Jeff...  So in order for me to prove to you that I am not a coward, I would have to spend hundreds of dollars on a plane ticket, probably a couple days of my life travelling to some BF area of Ohio, to go visit a mentally unbalanced angry individual who has delusions that his life is so much more awesome than mine... That is some impregnable logic there Jeff.  Is that how you prove people are chicken?  Give them some completely unreasonable and laborious task to prove their manhood to you, not to mention giving the strong impression that you are mentally unhinged and could pull a gun on someone... and if they don't for some reason prioritize proving their manhood to an internet lunatic over hundreds of dollars and days wasted in their life, they default into being a coward?  You really got me... I'm a coward.  I suppose if it all works out right in your head, you are a winner and I am an eternal loser.  I bow to your greatness.

...and I do love how you are now too chicken to admit you were subtly threatening me... but it is par for the course with you.  Now I really do have to go... time for my vacation to start.  Toodle loo tough guy.

JeffOH12
JeffOH12

@donald5 @JeffOH12 First of all I didn't threaten you. I just want to see if you have the ba**s to say these things to my face. I really doubt you do. I don't beat up people to win an argument. When someone calls me a chicken **** of a p**** I want to see if they have the stones to say it to my face. You don't and I get that.

So donlad5 you keep your message board name going. Maybe someday you might actually be somebody in the real world.

donald5
donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 And by the way, being able to physically harm people that disagree with you or call you out for being a moron isn't all that impressive.  It simply means you were trained to do so and you are still wrong.  That is called assault.  Sorry if you not emotionally equipped to take criticism without resorting to violence.  Most of us got past that phase when we got out of grade school.  I suppose for someone who can't accept that they are wrong a great deal of the time , physical violence would be a good substitute for you.  You get to take out some of your pent up aggression and delude yourself into thinking that physically attacking someone means you win the argument.  Good for you.

donald5
donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 This is getting hilarious.  You really don't get it, do you?  You actually say that I, me Donald, take these comment sections too seriously, and you are trying to set up a fight with me?  Threatening to track me down?!  You are certifiably insane.  Is this some ironic joke to take a comment as insanely seriously as you can and then tell me I am taking it too seriously???  Gee... really... can I please set up a meeting with my internet stalker?  No...Actually you are offering me your address so I can drop some cash on some airfare so I CAN COME TO YOU... sounds awesome.  Maybe I can take some time off over the holidays to go meet a former marine with major anger and sociological issues.  Sounds peachy.   And really.... a fuzzy picture of you in sunglasses under the name JeffOH12... you certainly are putting yourself out there Jeff... what a brave man.  I mean it is like you put your social security number out there.  So now all I have to do is look up every Jeff in the state of Ohio that wears sunglasses.  Sorry chicken &%$# but that is as anonymous as my name.  And there is a reason people remain relatively anonymous on the internet... because psychos like you TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY and threaten to hunt people down and fight them.  Sorry but the internet is like a zoo... it puts a set of bars between me in the weirdos.  I don't want to jump in the monkey cage with you.

And the whole "you aren't getting enough attention" thing... can you come up with some new material?  Kinda a broken record and doesn't come off as too credible when you follow me around like a puppy.  Get over yourself you doosh bag.  See you later... maybe after thanksgiving.

JeffOH12
JeffOH12

@donald5 @JeffOH12  I would love to meet you in person. I would love to see you say that to my face. Truth is your just some *** using a screen name. You don't get enough attention at home so you come on here because you think your somebody.

I tell you what. I will email you my address and I would love to see you say those things to my face. You say those things on the net but you don't have the b***S to say it to my face. I can guarantee that. At least I actually use a picture of myself on here.

By the don't think because your on the net you can't be found.

@JeffOH12 @donald5 Uh oh!!!! Bad A&% alert!!!  We got a marine who surprise, surprise, doesn't like being called chicken.  And you said it "isn't smart"... uhoh... that sounded ominous.  Sorry Marty McFly but you are too chicken to admit what you said.  Marines's are not suddenly immune form being a chicken.  You do not get some sort of pass for the rest of your life.  What a pu $$y.... oh that wasn't meant for you... I just put it in this comment because.... well when I hit reply under someone's comment I put random comments that are not meant for that person.   It was starting a completely different comment with that...please excuse the confusion.

JeffOH12
JeffOH12

@donald5 @JeffOH12 Oh son never call a Marine chicken ****. That's not very smart.

I'm not the one on here day after day after day. You take it to seriously. I commented that you were actually making an excuse for Florida which you did.

Then I made a statement about the SEC under it.

donald5
donald5

@JeffOH12 @donald5 Right dude... your comments have a tendency to revolve around me.  So why address me about the "team SEC" thing?  Why not start your own general comment about that under another section.  General hint... if you put a comment directly under someone else's, it is considered to be addressing that person directly.  You were talking to me and now you are too chicken %&$# to admit you were wrong.

And for someone who went on a tirade about me making too many comments where it devolved into calling me a loser living in my mom's basement, you might want to take your advice on how not to take this comment section so seriously.  Do you have have any sense of the overwhelming hypocrisy of your comments or are you too dense to grasp it?

JeffOH12
JeffOH12

@donald5 @JeffOH12 Oh someone has a case of the Mondays. Don't take this stuff so seriously. I mentioned the SEC stuff on my own. Not everything revolves around what you. I was just making that statement. You really do take this place way to seriously. I feel sad for you. Lighten up Frances!!

WilliamBrady

@Adolfis @theboneman21 @SteveRowFla  The OC runs the offense like head coach wants,  You saw a difference in play calling because the head coaches.  If the OC called the plays he wanted, he'd be head coach.

Adolfis
Adolfis

@theboneman21 @SteveRowFla @Adolfis For two years Pease has run a very vanilla offense since arriving at UF. He was only the Offensive Coordinator for 2 years at Boise and that offense looks nothing like what he is running at UF. For two years UF has not cracked the top 100 in offense and I will not be sad to see him go. If he is around for the final game I wonder if he is finally going to open up the playbook a little. Not that it matters.

So Steve Row the Troll get it out of your system. You have a week and a weekend to enjoy. Because unless they decide to press charges against Winston before Thanksgiving (which should have already happened, but we know how the Criminoles protect their own) we all know its going to be a blow out for your Criminoles.
