Alex Rodriguez says he and his legal team ‘crushed it’

The grievance hearing between Alex Rodriguez and Major League Baseball is over, and A-Rod likes the way he and his legal team handled the process.

“We crushed it,” Rodriguez told Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork.com. “They had nothing.”

Though arbitrator Fredric Horowitz’s decision regarding A-Rod’s 211-game suspension probably won’t come until 2014, Rodriguez was excited about the work his team of lawyers did.

VIDEO: Were A-Rod’s antics all just a stunt?

“Now that it’s over, as far as the state of the case, how the evidence went in, how my team challenged it, I feel great,” Rodriguez said. “The only thing that concerns me is the process.”

Both sides have until Dec. 11 to file written briefs (the labor hearing equivalent of closing arguments) and another 10 days after that to reply to each other’s briefs. After that, Horowitz has 25 days to make a decision.

A-Rod’s lead lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, is already planning to obtain an injunction to prevent a suspension from being implemented, but Rodriguez’s lawyers expect that some sort of punishment will be handed down.

“I firmly believe Alex should get a goose-egg here, but Horowitz has to be prepared for this to be his last arbitration to do that,” said Jordan Siev, one of Rodriguez’s attorneys. “But do I think he would have the courage to give him a goose-egg? I’d like to think so, but I frankly can’t imagine Alex walks out of there with nothing.”

Rodriguez’s storming exit from the hearing on Wednesday garnered him a lot of public support, he said.

“Today was nuts,” he said. “The support has been overwhelming in the streets today. People were jumping out of their [bleeping] cars. I been coming to N.Y. for 20 years and, including 2009 [when the Yankees won the World Series], I have never had a more positive reaction in the streets. I couldn’t believe this s—.”

The English word, "on" is a preposition. It takes objective, not subjective, pronouns. Even though it may sound fancy and politically correct, it is totally grammatically wrong to say "A-Rod on HE and his legal team". The correct English is "A-Rod on himself and his legal team".  But, since journalists no longer need to learn the English language, they continue to use it incorrectly. Sorry.

I despise the me-first attitude of Alex Rodriguez. I pray he is crushed.

With however-many-hundred-millions in the bank, you'd think the guy would wear suitcoats that don't resemble burlap.

I hope that he gets off the hook completely - zero games - forcing the Yankees to play, and pay, him.  This guy is done as a premier player.

Not a fan of ARod but you just gotta love the double standards of the Red Sox fans.

Why can't he just GO AWAY?  I've been a Yankee fan for like 40 years and can't stand that they signed him - "obstreperous A-hold" Is exactly correct.

Alex crushed it just like he has crushed the ball during post-season play. I hope they give him the full 211 games plus another 100 games for being an obstreperous a-hole. He is a failure as a human being on every level.

Everyone of you has seen all the evidence, eh? Or just what you read in the NY Post, or ESPN or SI, et al? It's amazing that credence is given to ANYTHING that is written, anywhere. Yes, he comes off as a jerk. Yes, he has the personality of a goat. Yes, he has more money than God. Yes, he date's nice looking women.....Oh, screw him. Burn him at the cross.

Actually, A-Rod, everyone hates you and hopes you lose. The only people who think they will lose because of some perceived 'process' problem are those who really had no case. Here are the facts: your name was mixed in with several other ball players who received products from the same company. The only reason those other names came to light was because of your people. ALL THOSE OTHER PEOPLE ACCEPTED SUSPENSIONS. That was despite not having tested positive. YOU ARE GUILTY.

He's done.  A-Rod will never play major league ball again; that's how the power of the league works.  Bye-bye, crybaby.  You will have to storm out again.  Support?  Everyone I talked to was tired of him and his spoiled brat crying.

They crushed it. Ground it up to a fine powder and then snorted it.

I'm torn on this one.  I can't stand Alex Rodriguez, but at the same time I'd like to see the Yankees get stuck with that contract.  If only there were a way that they'd have to pay the money, but without Rodriguez seeing a penny of it.....

ARod - Roider

2013 Red Sox - Roiders

Not much of a difference.

A-Rod is an idiot. It's funny how he thinks he's bigger than baseball, and I don't see him ever getting into the HOF.

Crushed it? Is that why you got mad and walked out? What an idiot.

Is Aroid too stupid to understand that all of the "affection" he is receiving on the street is staged? His lawyers pay an Aroid "support group" to attend all of the hearings, make placards and basically go crazy when he exits his vehicle.

There is a picture of arod kissing a mirror. That about says it all.

"In a stunning move, the arbitrator doubled the suspension to 422 games." - keeping fingers crossed.

Sounds like Arod needs Ryan Dempster to drill him with another fastball so he can get some sympathy back.

@sptsguy12345  What's sad is he probably DID have the talent to play without chemical help.  But...he chose not to.  These guys are so narcissistic it's unbelievable.

@sptsguy12345 Exactly, All of the PED users need to have their stats removed from the record books and put the real record holders (Maris, Aaron, and others) back in their earned number one slots.

@nygiants56 I have a better idea.... have A-T@rd get suspended, make the Skankees pay his salary to charity, and have it count against their payroll for luxury tax purposes for signing this scumbag to an extension.

@Richard--Ramirez Show one example of proof that anyone on the Red Sox has been accused of or found guilty of using steroids.
We'll wait........still waiting.........oh, you have none? Thought so.

@Richard--Ramirez One major difference a-hole: the Red Sox won the world series while the Yankees finished at the bottom of the division! Suck it!

@Steaklover funny how he sees overwhelming support when all I see and hear is people booing when he comes to the plate.  This guy is really a loser.

That is something true yankee fans would have overwhelming support for.  Not sure who the idiots are that are showing this clown love.  We could get 3-4 good players for this clown's salary.

@Richard--Ramirez @Charles58 Based on what evidence idiot? The one failed test in 2003 before any of the bans were put into place? Hundreds of players failed tests then because there were no rules and the fails were for anything from cold medications to stimulants. He has not failed a single test since, unlike A-Roid who has failed multiple times. The envy over the Red Sox winning their 3rd World Series in 9 years while the Yank-mes have scratched out only one in the same time period is turning you into an embittered, rage-o-holic Richie. The only blithering idiot is the one you see in the mirror.

@joey311164 @Boogieman1281 Let's come back to reality there buddy.  In no situation is it legal for the league to force the Yankees to pay that money to anyone other than ARod.

GaryPartain

I'm not gonna get into a arguement over who did or didn't juice!..but if you think Ortiz is clean then you probably thought manny was clean as well !..and where is the proof that a rod failed "multiple test"?.. Like him or hate him arod was a helluva player in his prime and would have been even without the juice!. So if you think a old fat first baseman can come back from an Achilles tear without some hgh or other banned substance get a clue!

@Richard--Ramirez @Charles58 If you could read at higher than a pre-school level you would have discerned that my comment pertained to the 2013 season only. However, now that you mention it, the Yankees did win one title in 2009, which has been their only one in this century. I don't like to pick on the developmentally disabled Richie, but in your case I can't resist.
