The attorney for Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston said Thursday that sex between his client and a woman accusing Winston of sexual assault was consensual, reports Jennifer Portman and Jeff Burlew of the Tallahassee Democrat.

Tim Jansen, Winston’s attorney, held a press conference Thursday morning to address an ESPN report that Winston’s DNA matched DNA taken from the accuser.

Winston has not been charged with a crime and has not spoken publicly about the case. His attorney has denied sexual assault allegations against his client since they emerged last week.

Jansen said Winston submitted swabs for DNA testing last Thursday and that a Tallahassee Police Department investigator conducted the test.

SI WIRE: Report: DNA report connects Florida State QB Jameis Winston to accuser

“We are not surprised with the results of the DNA,” Jansen said. “We voluntarily submitted to a DNA, the only thing we are surprised by is it was leaked out by law enforcement. The question the people should ask is, why is it being leaked? For what purpose?

…”I don’t think it’s a secret what the defense is when I tell you that we are not surprised his DNA was found. We anticipated it would be found. We never, ever said he wasn’t there.”

Report: Police warned accuser about pursuing Jameis Winston sexual assault case

The accuser’s family released a statement Wednesday alleging that a Tallahassee police detective told the accuser that her life could “be made miserable” if she pursued charges.

interesting that the headline mentions that the sex was consensual, but does not point out that the alleged victim says it was rape.  Bias much?

If you use a rubba yoz just don't Luv her.

If this was black on black sex it's no big deal.  If the girl was white there will be problems big time.

Cool

I believe him and his roommate mutually agreed that someone should have sex with her, the roommate gave his consent to Jameis to proceed.

I believe in the principle that somebody's innocent until proven guilty.  That being said, he should have come out and said they had consensual sex when the whole thing started.

The man is a good football player for heavens sake.  Leave him alone.  Good athletics don't commit crimes, they are framed.  Pick on someone who does not start.

Bet the angry girl is black and poor with no family to help her out. Dad probably in jail or gone at birth. Mom on drugs.

Where is Thayer when you  need him.... he would definitely get to the bottom of this.....

Jameis screwed some broad laid some pipe and probably went his merry way.  The scorned broad wanted more. Like love and now cash. Lay pipe suffer for life.  It was sex not murder. move on.

If the girl was drinking, it is rape........................end of story.

If I had a son he would look like Jameis.

Shorter version-run of the mill black kid, sex.

Potential first round draft pick-rape.  And you wonder why celebs use hookers.  They don't sue.

This will help in the Heisman voting a nice rape accusation

The girl has to be black and very poor with parents who do not care very much. A decent family would be in the news and Jameis in jail.  If it was a white girl the KKK would be dojig something about it.

Funny how ben rothelisburger can rape women with impunity and get away with it!

There is no such thing at black racism. For  blacks racism to exist, blacks would have to enslave  whites for 400 years then turn around and discriminate against them When that happens then you can talk

Who cares. That's what the judicial system is for.  Play on.  Let the drubbings continue.  Go Noles!!  And before you complain about my comment, just know in advance - I couldn't care less.  Thanks.

Where is obama on this?  This guy looked more like his son than dead thug trayvon and he should begin the speeches again. Where is jess and al?  sorry, the victim is black also.  Would this prick get the protection if he wasn't a QB?

Despite being warned her life might be made  miserable if she pursued this she's decided to pursue and file charges against the guy . Sounds like she's still pretty upset about  it.

If this were a black woman and a white quarterback would all this fuss be made? Just saying....

@Cool So, the roommate had the authority to give Winston permission.  This is a question.

@cooldela1966 You are either more naive than a 5 year old girl or you are just sick!  Of COURSE good athletes commit crimes!  Have the NFL has a criminal sheet.  FBI statistics show that less than 8% of reported rapes are false accusations.  There is NO incentive for a woman to falsey accuse a man of rape and PLENTY of dis-incentive.

playemball

@dandogwood Do you seriously have thoughts like these that you incoherently blurt out of your mouth?

Water-Faery

@dandogwood I do not think you would say that if YOU were the one raped,  You are just sick.

@dandogwood Yeah, sure.  She totally knew who Winston was.  That's why it took her 1 month to find out and positively ID Winston as her attacker.  Makes total sense.

@dandogwood That is what daddy tells you after he is finished with you? "It was sex son, not murder, now go make your uncle as happy as you made me."

@Robert96 And if people who are drinking can't consent to sex, I've raped my wife on multiple occasions.  She doesn't seem to have minded though.

@Robert96 Well, she wasn't intoxicated, according to her tox report mentioned by her lawyer.

@playemball Hard for me to be objective, as I am a multiple time rape survivor.  But I have to believe this woman is NOT falsely accusing someone.

@Blake12 So, you finding humor in someone being raped notwithstanding albeit very disturbing and based on other posts you've made here, you're argument is that if a white QB can get away with rape, why can't a black QB?   You're mad because Winston may not get away it.

john795806

@Blake12 I kind of get your point Blake12, but racism is racism, whether justified or not. Racism means that for no other reason than that person's skin color, you dislike him or her and draw negative conclusions about their character. I live in Africa--as a white person. Africans treat me very nicely, in spite of some nasty colonial history, and that's to their credit. So I do find white racism odd, because those white people's recent ancestors were not the slaves but the abusers. The USA is my home country and I find it difficult to understand why Americans of different races are slow to reconcile by comparison. It's better each generation and I hope the day arrives when we are color-blind. Peace!

Chuckster
Chuckster

@Blake12 From "The Legend of Bagger Vance" -   "That's about the dumbest thing.....uh...ever!"   Being a racist, like yourself, doesn't mean you were a victim of slavery (which you weren't anyway).   It has to do with race and since you are clearly a racist, I would think you know that.   People like you promote division between the races with beliefs like this nonsense you posted here.  Unbelievable.

NCBuffoon
NCBuffoon

@Blake12 If you truly believe that you are a sad and mistaken human being.  Slavery existed for thousands of years prior to this country, with the majority of slaves being white.  The slaves who were sold to this country from Africa were from people with the same skin tone.

Being a race baiter takes a special kind of person.  People like you continue to divide this country, and for what reason?  Do you feel better about yourself when you make comments like these?  Do you owe me something because my family fought and died for the North 150+ years ago?  Ignorance breeds ignorance

Water-Faery
Water-Faery

@JohnSmith23 Who CARES?   I surely hope your sister or mother or daughter is never raped, with THAT level of empathy!

Tim38
Tim38

@DebbieDiablo You mean like when a hispanic guy gets labeled as a white guy when he kills a young black guy and the country erupts into wild speculation about the evil and racist intentions of the mislabeled hispanic guy?  Yea....I didn't think so.  When you yourself stop being racist you might see the world isn't quite the color charged place you need it to be.

TerryPoupart
TerryPoupart

@DebbieDiablo Of course not.   The white quarterback would be in jail and there would be riots in the streets led by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.     Remember rape only matters to these people if it's a racial issue.

Water-Faery
Water-Faery

@RyanWI @Robert96 THAT is the point, Ryan . . .if your wife did not mind, it was NOT raped.  This girl DID "mind".  That would make it rape.

TerryPoupart
TerryPoupart

@Chuckster @Blake12 Unfortunately for US the Attorney General of the United States agrees with Blake12.    These racists believe that Zimmerman should have been beaten to death by Travon Martin rather than defend himself.   White people should just shut up and die for what was done to blacks generations before they were born.

AlSharpton
AlSharpton

@NCBuffoon @Blake12 - There are more slaves in Africa today than there ever were in the U.S. but I don't see any African-Americans doing anything about that, or even commenting on it. Nope, they would rather whine about '400 years ago'.

historiskull
historiskull

@TerryPoupart @DebbieDiablo Yea, that happened with the world bank guy. That was in Al's back yard, right? The leader of the world bank RAPED the house keeper (and several others) and got away with it. Race, class, and gender issues involved and who rioted for her cause?

Water-Faery
Water-Faery

@SupplyingEventualConvicts @DebbieDiablo Some of you men just love to bring out that Duke Lacrosse and hold it in front of you.  While the woman in that case was lying, that has NOTHING to do with every other woamn who has been raped.

Tim38
Tim38

@historiskull @TerryPoupart @DebbieDiablo Obviously you just see some highlights of the news and get upset over the race.  What you didn't bother to do was learn how the accuser turned out to be a complete and utter liar with not just an extensive criminal background but also of fabricating rape stories.  She couldn't keep herself on one story about how the rape occured and demonstrably lied about virtually every aspect of the day in question.   It's ok man.  It's understandable that your hate has blinded you and you don't want to know the real truth but damn...stop talking about things you know nothing about.

Chuckster
Chuckster

@WHO*IS*ESPN @MidwestGolfFan @DebbieDiablo Neither of you are.  This is a totally ludicrous question.  If it were a black woman and a white QB, the JJ's of the world and Al Sharptons would come out of the wood work to nail a high profiled QB.
