After a 29-point loss to the Timberwolves on Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers held a players-only meeting.

The meeting got contentious and several players confronted each other, according to’s Brian Windhorst.

The meeting didn’t resolve the Cavs’ problems on the court, as they lost to the Bobcats, 86-80, on Friday after giving up a 12-point second-half lead. It was their third straight loss and fifth in sixth games since starting the year 2-2.

GOLLIVER: Mario Chalmers suspended one game for flagrant foul

The report comes on the heels of a dustup between point guard Kyrie Irving and coach Mike Brown in a loss to Chicago on Monday, when the two got into a heated exchange after Brown pulled Irving from the game.

Irving is shooting 38 percent from the field this season, and was only 5-for-16 against the Bobcats. Still, he leads the team with 19.3 points and 7.2 assists per game.

Cleveland plays in Washington on Saturday night.

MAHONEY: Exploring the NBA players who have expanded their range this season

first off, the idiot cavs brass wasted a pick on anthony "bust" bennett, which was strike one. Hiring a three time failure as a coach was dumb, and bringing in that bum bynum. Now kyrie is gunning and all those supporting players r trash

Mike Brown, right, the guy who couldn't win with Lebron, or Kobe, that guy, Mike Brown, the anti Phil Jackson, can't win with loaded teams, that guy, Mike Brown, a guy who doesn't seem to understand basketball, but billionaires like to hire, that guy, right, Mike Brown, him, that coach that thinks he is Gene Hackmen in Hoosier, that Mike Brown, that guy, who acts like he is a great coach and people don't get him, that guy, right, the guy who can't coach and doesn't understand basketball, right, that Mike Brown.

Whole team has sucked so far this season.

Coach Brown is losing this team just like he lost the Lakers. They don't seem to be buying into his "Defense" first philosophy. They aren't playing defense or offense. What is sad is there is some talent on this team.

I don't think Brown was the right choice to coach these players. It's not the same team it was the last time he coached them. Something needs to change or this will be another lost season.

Irving has sucked hard this year.
