Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will undergo further tests on his injured shoulder Tuesday, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reports initial tests showed a small fracture in his collarbone that will keep him out about three weeks.

A source told ESPN’s Ed Werder that Rodgers’ injury “doesn’t look good” and he could “possibly” miss the rest of the regular season.

FANTASY: Possible effects of Aaron Rodgers’ injury

Rodgers left Monday night’s game against the Bears early with a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury. The Packers initially announced that his return was questionable, then downgraded him to out.

Bear down, Chicago Bears,

Make every play clear the way to victory.
Bear down, Chicago Bears,
Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation,
With your T-formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears,
And let them know why you're wearing the crown.
You're the pride and joy of Illinois,

There goes my fantasy season.  The Bears better take advantage or this is a lose-lose for me.

With Rodgers down the rest of this bad team will be exposed. They are a one man team. W/O Rodgers they are going to crash and burn. I could not be any happier.

With Rodgers down and McCown playing good ball, it's a whole new NFC North! Plus, can anyone argue that the NFC North is NOT the toughest division in the NFL?

Good news for my Eagles.  We roll into town on Sunday.  We better win this game without Aaron or Clay playing.  If we don't, we don't deserve the playoffs.  Goooooo Eagles!!!!!!

Okay, I'm going to be "that guy".

Green Bay needs to give a certain #4 down in Mississippi a phone call.

Yes, Matt Flynn is a free agent. Matt Flynn is also not the answer. Matt Flynn is, essentially, Tim Tebow without the hype (or wins). Flynn has washed out of two teams now and lost his job to young QBs whom nobody thought would challenge him, and Buffalo flat out released him because he wasn't needed. Even in Green Bay, he didn't exactly win games in his spot appearances. He held is own when he came in for Rodgers in Detroit, overachieved against New England, and carved up a Detroit defense everybody knew wasn't any good. Matt Flynn is only worth it if he's going to be in a spot start here or there, not if he's going to be your starting QB for perhaps a quarter of the season.

Meanwhile, Brett Favre is still at his playing weight down in Mississippi. Yes, he supposedly turned down the St Louis Rams when they called. But he probably turned down the St Louis Rams because they're the St Louis Rams. I still believe that if a legit contender contacted him, he'd listen and bite. Yes, he's also concerned about concussions/memory loss, but people also need to point out that some of the chunks of memory he cant remember are things that happened during his big drug addiction back in the 90s. It may not all be concussion related. On top of that, Green Bay has a legit run game now which will definitely help keep the heat off of Favre and allow him to make some plays. I still believe Favre could be a pretty good QB in the league, as well. People need to remember that 2 out of his last 4 seasons ended with him making deep playoff runs and having near MVP caliber seasons. He's also probably the most experienced QB with Mike McCarthy not named Aaron Rodgers. Yes, he hasn't been in Green Bays offensive system since 2007, but the offense doesn't seem to have changed that dramatically since he was gone.

On top of all of that, calling Favre would tremendously help mend fences between him and the Packers. I doubt it will happen though simply because I think Ted Thompson holds bigger grudges then he lets on.

The Packers need to make a splash if Rodgers is going to be out 3 to 4 weeks, because otherwise their season is flat out done.

Sucks to see Rodgers go down but the Eagles have a shot now!

Its times like these that how much respect there is for the longevity of starts for Brett Favre. Rodgers has been very durable, but all QB's take shots that can put them out. Favre did this for some 18 years taking shots without missing a game?...Wow

@laurielynn78

Lacy is legit, and apparently Clay Mathews is pretty good, and their IR list is pretty strong at the WR position.  So by no means a one-man team, but Rodgers is clearly their best player.

@laurielynn78 You could say that about half of the teams in this league. Who was the last backup QB to win a Super Bowl? I think everyone knows the answer and he proved he should have been starting anyway.

@Sammyz

Yes, quite easily.  The NFC North is barely break even when it plays outside the division.  Both the NFC West and AFC West have huge margins playing outside the division.  They're both better divisions top to bottom- NFC North might give them both trouble in a match up of #3s (and I think the Chargers would have a better than 50% shot at either Detroit or Chicago, even with their starting QBs), but #1, #2, and #4 are all clearly better in both Wests.

@ElvisHitler Calm down buddy. The Bears still won't win anything this year. And no, the better team did not win last night.

@SephirothDZX  If you think Thompson would even consider bringing Favre in, you for sure have lost it.

First, give Brett a little more credit. He would laugh. Second, it would not be worth the circus for a few weeks and fair to Rodgers who would once again be looked at as Favres backup while healing. Dumb dumb PR move this would be.

Aint going to happen, no how, no way.

@SephirothDZX Ok, now I am going to be "that guy."   What the heck are you babbling about, were you doing drugs with Favre in the 90's?

@dirtyheat @laurielynn78   Backups do matter

Backups who went on to win that season Superbowl

Brady - Patriots 2001

Dilfer - Ravens  2000

Williams -Redskins 1987

Hostetler - Giants  1990

Jim Plunket  Raiders  1980

Earl Morrel  - Miami 1972  (yes the undefeated Miami Dolphins)

@maverickaw101484 @ElvisHitler  The better team did win, as the Bears were a bit more competent to have a suitable backup to Cutler in place. Your only as good as your teams depth.  It was obvious last night.

SephirothDZX

@j7apple @SephirothDZX You're most likely right that Thompson wouldn't even consider it. He rubs me as the type of guy who holds grudges far longer than they warrant.

Regarding it being a "dumb dumb PR move" where Rodgers would be looked at as "Favres backup", I think the idea that people would once again look at Rodgers as a backup is pretty moronic. The guy has a ring, a Super Bowl MVP, regular season MVP, and is on pace to have the best TD/INT ratio in history.

But really, media circus and what not, it would still be a good football move for the Packers assuming Favre is in playing shape. If the Packers are actually planning on going 3-4 weeks with only a backup quarterback, which would include the big game against Detroit, then the Packers are done this year because they'd be a sub .500 team with a big division hole by the time Rodgers gets back.

@MikeWendlandt @j7apple @maverickaw101484 @ElvisHitler

I see a 0-3 stretch coming and probably a loss this time around in Detroit.

There should be no difference. You have to prepare as if Rodgers stays healthy, but plan for the unfortunate situation as last night. The Pack clearly did not, as this was a very winnable game, even without Rodgers.

MikeWendlandt
MikeWendlandt

@j7apple @maverickaw101484 @ElvisHitler The difference is that McCown had 2 weeks to prepare for this game with the starters, while Seneca Wallace played in a GB jersey for the first time. Green Bay can weather the storm for a few weeks, beat PHI, NYG, and MIN and get A-Rodg back for Thanksgiving. Clay also could be back this week as well as Perry. This is still the best team in the North.

MikeCerone
MikeCerone

@SephirothDZX @j7apple I think you make a lot of sense, brett re-unites with Green Bay, helps out the cause for 3-4 games and goes to the sidelines when Rogers comes back and with out a doub

t  Brett would understand his role and I believe he would be content with it and he is their best hope right now and what a way to reunite Brett to the Green & Gold.

j7apple
j7apple

@SephirothDZX @j7apple  In all honesty? Bringing back Flynn was probably Thompsons master  plan all along, to get him back on the cheap, knowing he is a suitable backup, not a starter. lol

SephirothDZX
SephirothDZX

@j7apple @SephirothDZX I guess it depends on where Favre's at mentally. For all we know, maybe he knows he can't take the full season beating anymore and would just want to help out GB for a few weeks as a kind of apology to the franchise?

But yeah, you're most likely right. He's staying down south. I just don't want to see Green Bay make a mistake and invest in Matt Flynn.

j7apple
j7apple

@SephirothDZX @j7apple  Posts come off as wrong. Backup only in the sense that while out, Rodgers is holding a clipboard.  IF and only IF Favre would consider another round at QB (very doubtful) he is not going to do it as a fill in, but would rather want to take the season to fruition, win or lose. Thats how Favre see's things. Rodgers will be back.

With that said, he is staying at the ranch.

@Dat Dude @Cool @SephirothDZX I probably have you beat by a few years... I grew up as a kid hoping to be the next Johnny Unitas... so no pokemon here. I was trying to say that I think anyone hoping Favre is coming back.. has smoked too much dope in their past.
