Why do these idiots feel the need to stock up with that kind of firepower? I understand from Aaron Hernandez's perspective, he aims to kill people.

At least he didn't kill a 2 year old and walked away with it.

I'm sure some NRA lawyer will take his case and carefully explain to the judge that Smith has a Constitutional right to shoot people with an illegal assault rifle, and besides which there is really no such thing as an "illegal" assault rile since Americans have a God given right to carry or tow behind anything up to a 105mm Howitzer.

Missed five out of eight games this season? Charged with possessing illegal assault weapons? Booked for DUI? Charged with marijuana possession? For exactly which of these transgressions does this moron deserve a second chance? He's not just mentally ill, he's a criminal. He doesn't belong in the NFL and I'm surprised a team as classy as the 49ers haven't released him outright.

This is a really sad story.  This kid is really good at what he does and yet he sabotages himself like a kid who doesn't have a chance.  Aldon is a $ 7M a year athlete and yet he is foolish enough to commit acts that clearly doom him.  Come on Man!

The cops couldn't find him earlier?  Pretty sure they knew exactly where he was going to be around 1:30 PT every single week.

@Bostonguy Youre showing your ignorance. Shooting people, with any weapon, is illegal. The rifles he had were legal to own in the state where he purchased them (whether he made the purchases legally is a bit sketchy) and it was only not modifying bullet button to require a tool that made them illegal in CA. "Assault rifles" have been illegal to own, without stringent documentation and registration, in the US since the 1930s.

That said, the manner in which he kept (stored is inaccurate) his rifles, ammunition, etc is incredibly stupid at best. They should be kept in a locked safe unless in transport or use whereas his were out and around in his room. Too bad that isnt illegal, just stupid.

Depends on what the lawyer values more... Money or the backwoods philosophy of NRA which in not so many words says black fols are not welcome and are to blame for the restrictive gun laws of the government..lol

@larrybradford  I see redemption in his future my friend.  Some people actually use second chances to their own advantage.  If he can stop being a knucklehead and cease carrying around assault weapons, he might actually have a chance of staying out of jail and have a all-pro NFL career.  As for the DUI charges, GET A TAXI NEXT TIME, ALDON!! (Or better yet a chaffuered Bentley)

Regardless, the 9ers will be playing for a NFL championship, with or without Aldon Smith.
