Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, who was originally supposed to be out six to eight weeks while recovering from knee surgery, could return to the lineup in two weeks, reports Yahoo! Sports.

Westbrook was injured during the playoffs in April and underwent a second surgery earlier this month because a loose stitch caused swelling in his right knee.

At the team’s media day, Westbrook said he would not be ready for the season opener.

Westbrook averaged 23.2 points, 7.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds last season and was a second-team All-NBA selection.

The Thunder open the season Oct. 30 against the Utah Jazz.
