Tiger Woods has turned up the heat on Brandel Chamblee and Golf Channel by saying he’s waiting for the network’s next move.

Chamblee, a Golf Channel analyst, caused an uproar by implying in a Golf.com column that Woods cheated and by giving Woods’ five-win season an overall “F” grade due to a series of rules violations.  Chamblee, who has a reputation as a Woods critic, wrote that the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer was “a little cavalier with the rules” and included an analogy of his fourth-grade teacher crossing out “100″ and giving him an “F” for cheating on a math test.

Last week, Chamblee tweeted that the cheating comparison went too far, and he apologized to Woods for “this incited discourse.”

Woods, speaking publicly for the first time since Chamblee’s column was published, said that Chamblee didn’t really apologize, but that he’s prepared to move on. Woods then insinuated that he is waiting for Golf Channel to act on its analyst.

“All I am going to say is that I know I am going forward,” Woods said before his exhibition match with Rory McIlroy at Mission Hills. “But then, I don’t know what the Golf Channel is going to do or not. But then that’s up to them. The whole issue has been very disappointing as he didn’t really apologize and he sort of reignited the whole situation.

“So the ball really is in the court of the Golf Channel and what they are prepared to do.”

Golf Channel has not commented on Chamblee’s column and Chamblee has said no one asked him to apologize.

Chamblee said in an email last week to The Associated Press that he never said that he thinks Woods cheated.

“I think ‘cavalier with the rules’ allows for those with a dubious opinion of the BMW video,” Chamblee said. “My teacher in the fourth grade did not have a dubious opinion of how I complete the test. But she was writing to one, and as I was writing to many, I felt it important to allow for the doubt some might have, so I chose my words accordingly.

“What people want to infer about that is up to them,” he said. “I have my opinion, they can form theirs.”

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, issued a statement to ESPN.com that raised the possibility of legal action against Chamblee and also is waiting on Golf Channel to act.

“I’m all done talking about it and it’s now in the hands of the Golf Channel,” Steinberg said. “That’s Tiger’s view and that’s mine, and all we want to do is move forward. And whether the Golf Channel moves forward as well, then we’ll have to wait and see.”

Brandon Chamblee comes across as an an arrogant "know all"..  He has just decried Frank Nobilos prediction ..without giving justification as to why he rates Adam Scott.   Chamblee has not gone one prediction right in many years and is not a good ambassador of the USA.  Totally arrogant and full of his own importance.  Please get someone else more humble for the golf channel and someone who is open to discussion.    What a pain he is.

Brandel Chamblee is merely looking to separate himself from the pack of other critics......he would wear pink underwear if he thought that would do the job.

Why doesn't Tiger just move on? There have been some strange rules infringments with him this season, and I would have thought he knew the rule book. If he doesn't maybe he should read it!!

chamblee has an axe to grind.  during the masters coverage he was adamant that tiger should have been dq'd or voluntarily take himself out.  he wouldn't let up.  then, suddenly all the officials and other announcers determined the 2-stroke penalty was fair, everyone except chamblee who couldn't let it go.  hence, his grade of "f" at year-end.

Brandel Chamblee is an idiot, i have never thought of him as a good analyst as he seems to get personal in his commentating, the sign of a bad commentator, the funny thing is that he was a hack golfer at best and now makes his money off the very back of who he continues to chase with his commentary, lets all admit that the golf channel exists due to Tiger. For years and years the idiot has constantly gone after Tiger, it is starting to feel very much like jealousy. Golf channel should fire him and maybe get more viewers.

Let's be honest here. Tiger was caught not once, but twice twice on tour. Do you mean to tell me that after all these years he somehow forgot the rules??? That's BULLS**T!!! Brandel is a commentator/analyst; it is his job to analyze & report what he saw, He was doing his job, and now because Tiger doesn't agree with it he thinks The Channel needs to do something about Brandel. What is the PGA tour going do to make Tiger play by the rules like all the other golfers on tour? Tiger is a huge baby. His so called reputation has already been soiled for a number of other reasons that don't include golf.

Tiger is a crybaby, two rules violations and he said he didnt think he was wrong... what a self loathing liar and cheater he is... He is a great golfer, maybe if his dad taught him about being a man first he wouldnt be the  cheater and liar... Hes not a role model... when he says the ball didnt move and the video shows it does... the same way he didnt think sleeping with all the women was wrong... Bravo Brandon!!!

Chamblee couldn't carry Tigers socks. Opinion piece my backside. He is accusing Tiger of cheating without saying it then hiding behind golf channel viewers to form their own opinion because he doesn't like Tiger.

I'll watch Tiger and Chamblee can take a hike!

I grew up watching Jack, Arnie... Tiger Woods is the greatest thing to ever happen to golf. Period.

When the Food Channel turned their back on Paula Jean I stopped watching it. If the golf channel reacts to Tiger Woods' nonsense I will also stop watching it. Tiger is a good golfer (was) but he doesn't walk on water although he probably things he should be allowed to because he has made so much money for everyone involved in professional golf. Sadly, he has not brought true golf fans to the game.

We can sum this up like this:

Gary Player made $14 Million in a 60 year PGA and Senior tour career.  Jack Nicklaus made about $6 mil. Arnold Palmer: $7 Mil. Greg Norman: $16 Mil.

Tiger Woods: $110 mil.

Look here:  http://espn.go.com/golf/moneylist/_/tour/alltime

It shows you all you need to know about the impact Tiger had on the game of golf.  All you need to do is win once or twice on tour to have a more successful (monetary) career than the greatest of golf.  Nobody on tour should have anything negative to say about Tiger, because they all reap the benefits of him playing.

while I disagree with Chamblee's column... he should not be fired or anything else... he was writing an opinion piece and  gave an opinion.... time to move on TW and Golf

Tiger Woods could crush the Gold Channel simply by refusing to be interviewed by them. It looks like they are are going to have to get rid of Chamblee.

The bottom line is that anyone who makes money from PGA golf owes their living to Woods. Without him they are nothing.

Golf Channel ought to tell Tiger to get lost...

Tiger Woods, tin god. Riding high now, cossetted from reality by enablers who live off him.

Attention, world!  No one may say anything bad about Tiger Woods.  Chamblee may be a moron, but his criticism of Tiger was not inaccurate.  But he backed down, and the jackals are swarming; you'd think these sports media guys would have learned that by now.  Bye-bye, Brandel.  Should have stuck by your guns--at least you'd have had your integrity.

@astenson   You have to be kidding.  The IRS took its lessons from the Rules of Golf.  Nobody knows or can be sure he/she is up to date with all the rules, that's why everyone carries a Rules of Golf in their bag...or should.

By the way, lets all hold off on commentating on Tigers indiscretions, can anyone out there tell me they know for sure that any other golfer isnt doing or has done just as he did, im sure in the past with alot less media attention there were golfers(maybe Brandel) running around. Casting stones people, casting stones....

@Bear1262 I'll be honest here.  Tiger wasn't "caught".  He even consulted with his playing partner for an interpretation of the rules and they were both wrong -- as are you.  Chamblee is a petty little man who is trying to make a name for himself as somewhat controversial.  He wasnt doing his job, he crossed the line and should be fired.  He accused Tiger of cheating -- IN FRONT OF MILLIONS.  He won 5 times this year, fool.  They changed the rules to try to let others catch up to Tiger -- rules as to ball liveliness, club length, etc.  Why?  Because he has won so many times.  I agree that Tiger is still a baby in a lot of ways, but that's his business, not yours.   As to his reputation, he'll go down as the greatest golfer of all time and the rest will be lost in faded print.

RobRenfrew
RobRenfrew

Ummmm if you watch golf you will know that even the tour came out and said he didnt cheat, but are we now the holder of the rule book?

Brandon?? You can think what you want of him personally, but the man is the best golfer ever, and i think the fact he is the first billionaire athlete proves that.

@flamiemcflamerpants So money is the God of Gods, eh.  That philosophy is "all you need to know" about what is wrong with golf and society at large today.

Tiger is a cheater, in life and golf.  And the PGA/USGA has allowed it to go on with their blessing.  I will never forget the 1999 Phoenix Open when 2 or 3 dudes from the gallery rolled a several hundred pound boulder out of the way so that Tiger had a swing without having to take a penalty drop.  The rules officials called it a "loose impediment."  If he had a shred of actual character, Tiger would have not allowed that to happen in Phoenix.  And there are other incidents of that kind of getting by with things, as well.

Brandle Chamblee is a media member.  To try and quash his voice is simply Tiger and Co at its best.  Disgusting.

@RobRenfrew

Most other golfers don't use their "squeaky clean family man" as a marketing image.

THAT is why it matters.

@RobRenfrew He is not the first "billionaire athlete".  Why do you need to respond to every comment that does not conform to your opinion?  We all get it...you have a "man crush" on TW.  It's at the point where your judgement is flawed and you are starting to misrepresent the facts (i.e. first billionaire athlete).  Give us all a break buddy.

@Hokieduck @flamiemcflamerpants   He accused the man of cheating.  Plain and simple.  The PGA determined that he didn't cheat on any occasion.  That's the decision of his fellow pros.  Chamblee crossed the line.

@RonStradtmann @JamieBull Even the ones that only imagined they'd ever met Woods?  And the ones that simply fabricated it looking for cash? Most of those bimbos were lying as much as the anonymous caller to the PGA that claimed to see that golfball move.

@mjhellund @RonStradtmann @JamieBull

Oh, right, it was all big lie.

Like that woman to whom he gave $10 million to...to...well, nobody knows why.  It never happened!

Well, OK...maybe it did.  But it doesn't matter!  Tiger is the richest golfer ever -- that makes everything OK!  He doesn't have to justify to anyone how he spends it!  Not even $10M to a bimbo in the middle of a cheating scandal.  Because it never happened!  (TW-huggers Return to beginning of paragraph.)
