Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer will have season-ending surgery to repair his broken right leg on Monday, according to NFL.com.

Vollmer injured his leg in the third quarter of the Patriots win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and was down on the field for several minutes before his right leg was put in an air cast and he was carted off the field.

KING: Matthew Stafford showed true grit against Cowboys

Vollmer will be replaced in the lineup by Marcus Cannon, who has only one start in his three years in the league.

I'm a lifelong fan of the Pats, but even I wonder how much more they can take.  They've already lost Mayo and Wilfork for the year (meaning our defense is screwed), now Vollmer, our second-best OL behind Mankins, is out at a time when Brady's trying to work out the snap counts and routes with the receivers?  Not good.  It's painful watching the Pats D's failure rate at getting off the field on third down the last couple weeks..  We have a Hall of Fame-bound QB running the offense, but when the D can NEVER get off the field on third down the game is over.

......injuries keep piling up on the Pats roster.....hard to believe they keep winning with a patchwork team loaded with rookies.
