Washington safety Brandon Meriweather voiced some strong opinions about Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall on Monday, according to the Washington Times.

After being suspended for Sunday’s game for repeated violations of the leagues head-to-head contact policy against the Bears, Meriweather lashed out at Marshall, who said that there was no place for Meriweather’s illegal hits in the NFL, by pointing to accusations of domestic abuse by Marshall:

“He feel like I need to be kicked out of the league? You know, I feel like people who beat their girlfriends should be kicked out the league, too. So, you tell me who you’d rather have: Somebody who play aggressive on the field, or somebody who beat up their girlfriend?”

Marshall had previously been accused of abuse in a civil suit by an ex-girlfriend, but the claims were dismissed last year.

Meriweather also said the league was forcing players to make dangerous lower body tackles by punishing head-to-head hits:

‘To be honest, man, you’ve just got to go low now, man,’ Meriweather said. ‘You’ve got to end people’s careers, you know? You’ve got to tear people’s ACLs and mess up people’s knees now. You can’t hit them high no more. You’ve just got to go low.’

Meriweather had originally been suspended for two games for his illegal hits against Chicago, but the suspension was reduced to one game on appeal.

Meriwhether should be banned from the league and then go team up with fellow moron Alden Smith. They could make quite a good criminal team and "rule their 'hood."

Notice how he uses the word "hit" and not the word "tackle."  Why does a football player have to hit anybody anywhere on the body?  Wrap up.  Tackle.  I understand these guys are physical specimens.  They want to inflict psychological damage to get an edge, make receivers afraid to come over the middle.  I get it.  The game doesn't need it though.

Keep hitting like that, Brandon Meriweather, and you will have a very short career.

@Samuel3 Hitting and getting a psychological edge is the essence of football. You've obviously never played if you think the game doesn't need it. Hit harder than the other guy or you get the brunt of it and get injured. Start trying to aim your tackle and wrapping up too much and you'll be a millisecond late, while he runs downfield. Wrap up but hit with all your force every chance you get.
