Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward will miss 3-4 weeks
Veteran goaltender Cam Ward will miss three to four weeks after suffering a lower-body injury stretching to make a save in the first period of Carolina’s 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.
Ward played only 17 games last season because of a knee injury.
Backup Justin Peters, in his first action of the season, allowed goals on the first two shots he faced, and the Hurricanes dropped to 4-3-3.
Carolina’s regular backup, Anton Khudobin, is also out with a lower-body injury, so the Hurricanes called up Mike Murphy from the Charlotte Checkers, their AHL affiliate, to be their second goalie.
Ward had a .912 save percentage in eight games.
