Brett Favre fears football has caused his memory loss

After Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was lost for the rest of the 2013 season with a torn left ACL, the Rams reached out to Brett Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, to see if the 44-year-old was interested in making yet another comeback.

Favre, who hasn’t played since ending his two-year stint with the Vikings in 2010, told Washington sports station WSPZ-AM on Thursday that not only does he feel physically unable to play, but he fears that he’s already experiencing symptoms connected to concussions suffered during his 20-year NFL career.

From the St. Paul Pioneer-Press:

“It’s flattering, but you know there’s no way I’m going to do that,” Favre said.

“I don’t remember my daughter playing soccer, playing youth soccer, one summer,” Favre told WSPZ. “I don’t remember that. I got a pretty good memory, and I have a tendency like we all do to say, ‘Where are my glasses?’ and they’re on your head. This was pretty shocking to me that I couldn’t remember my daughter playing youth soccer, just one summer, I think. I remember her playing basketball, I remember her playing volleyball, so I kind of think maybe she only played a game or two. I think she played eight. So that’s a little bit scary to me. For the first time in 44 years, that put a little fear in me. …

“I think after 20 years, God only knows the toll.”

FARRAR: Bucs coach Greg Schiano’s job increasingly in danger

In late September, Cook was quoted as saying of Favre:

“I saw him the other day. He’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in, physically. His arms look like a blacksmith’s arms. He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He’s coaching at the high school and they’re undefeated. He loves it. His body fat is 7.5 percent and he weighs 225 pounds. He could play today, better than a lot of them out there today.”

Maybe he can tell his wife that he doesn't remember making a phone call to a Jets woman employee and asking her to come to his room to party? Yeah, that's right...I don't remember...

All of you jealous people out there wish you were Brett Favre or had what Brett Favre has or accomplished in his NFL career, but you don't so you throw stones...pathetic!

Brett, You made the right decision.

All the kevlar, padding and rule changes in the world are never going to take the danger and concussions out of football.  If the sport is to survive I believe the only solution is to put a limit on the amount of years players are allowed to play at the professional level. I would suggest a limit of four years for all positions except QB - which would have a limit of five years.

Maybe he won't remember his falling out with the Packers and he'll suddenly show up at Lambeau next week.

Yeah... football might cause some memory loss but so does OLD AGE.  Part of me is curious to see if he could pull it off the other part of me thinks he would play 2 games tops and get seriously injured.

That explains why he kept un-retiring.

The way Brett dealt with his addiction was quite admirable.  He was also a drunk when he first got into the league, but after a seizure he got honest with himself and went public with his wife by his side.  Granted, it seems as though he was a real POS husband for a while and I've heard a lot of rumors about his personal life, but you can't deny that it would be a great money maker for the league in general to have him back in the game.

I can't stand Favre or Peter King's man-crush on Favre.  Makes me puke.

But I don't wish him harm or brain damage.

I hope he is ok and turns out to be fine

so I can continue bashing him and calling him " lil' Abner" with abandon.

Get well, dude.

Bus Cook, baloney. You're just hoping for another big payday. Favre didn't ride a bike 30-50 miles a day, run 4 or 5 miles a day, etc. when he was playing.

And Favre stated he's not anywhere near football shape on the radio. The guy's not coming back, and the fact that the Rams even reached out to a 44 year old QB is ridiculous. It also shows this trend in the NFL to go with only 2 QBs is just plain stupid.

"He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He’s coaching at the high school and they’re undefeated."

How does he find the time?  Heck, how does he find the energy?  That's like a triathlon every single day...then he goes and coaches H.S. football for 3-4 hours a day?

I believe he's in shape.  Not buying the workout reports.

He probably can't remember these things since he was high on oxycontin and vicodin.

And probably drunk.

And probably taking pictures of himself in the bathroom during the soccer games.

@MidwestGolfFan I run 4 miles per day and it only takes 30 minutes.  A 30-mile bike ride up and down Chicago's lakefront only takes a couple hours.  Better stick with that other "sport", golf.

@MidwestGolfFan The bike he rides is a Harley. ;)

Don't know about that running thing though - I don't think Favre ran that much in a season when he was playing.

@JesusNegros Maybe so but he does remember a lot of a holes. You are first on the list.

@MidwestGolfFan You should remember that he's not working.  That leaves him 10 hours free per day.

So its ok for you to put people down and essentially call them liars, but when your BS is refuted you want to tell someone that they are the ones that feel the need to tell everyone about it.  You are an absolute couch potato tool!
