Brad Keselowski is speaking out against the new concussion protocol NASCAR has put in place for the 2014 season, reports the Associated Press.

Keselowski is taking exception to the amount of latitude the examining doctors will have in diagnosing when a player is concussed and when they recovered and can return to the track. The defending Sprint Cup Series champion said that danger is inherent in the sport:

‘Doctors aren’t risk-takers. We are. That’s what makes our sport what it is and when you get doctors involved, it waters down our sport.’

NASCAR announced recently that they would require all of their drivers to take a baseline test before next season, so that doctors could more easily assess whether drivers had suffered concussions after a crash. The same style of testing is widely used in MLB and the NFL and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who missed two races last year due to a concussion, has endorsed the new safeguards.

He's 29 years old and going to be 30 before the start of the 2014 NASCAR season. He's young compared to guys like Johnson, Gordon and Kenseth but he's old enough not to make stupid comments.

A comically brainless, thoughtless sentiment by Keselowski.  This goes well beyond immaturity; I have to question Keselowski's basic IQ after saying something as profoundly idiotic as this.

We're talking about crash AFTERMATH here.  Why *wouldn't* you have a doc check for a concussion?  Hell, why hasn't it ALWAYS  been done?  That's a much better question! There's nothing macho about sending back out a driver that has blurry vision and can't focus or think straight, but there's plenty that's patently stupid about it.

"When you get doctors involved" it saves lives. Brad is young, immature, as Cool says, and he'll learn.

Brad is young, loud mouthed, and immature.  He also displays a whole lot of "I are too smart for them there college sissy types" attitude.  Not understanding that he is not the only one on the track driving at speeds up to 200 mph and the danger a concussed driver can cause to others shows he is ignorant.
