Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo said he doesn’t know when he will return to action and said his injured right knee is about “87 percent.”

Rondo made the comments after Boston’s final preseason game, a 101-97 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

Rondo underwent surgery in February to repair a partially torn ACL and hasn’t played since. He said he was fitted for a brace and hopes to be allowed to return to full contact activities.

The Celtics open the regular season on October 30 with a road game against the Toronto Raptors.

“I’m feeling great, working out everyday. I’m able to do more as far as compound workouts, versus me just doing one workout per day,” Rondo said, according to “I’m doing more on my leg and I’m able to handle it. It’s getting better, getting stronger every day.”

“I’ll know when it’s right,” said Rondo. “Everybody is different, each injury is different… For me, when I come back, I won’t come back unless I know I’m myself again.”

i hope he doesn't have to go thru what did.  the local chicago media, especially those from espn chicago, stopped just short of torches and pitchforks. rondo's a great young player with at least another 10 years ahead of him, i'd hate to see him come back too soon and jeopardize that.

Rondo should learn from Rose, take your time, you still a young man.  I like Rondo, maybe should have a little more self control, but it really makes him who he is.   He'll be back when he is really ready to help the Celtics.

Rondo needs to take his sweet time.. No need to rush anything. This Celtics team will not go very far this year and him rushing back would be a waste of time.
