The injury status of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel promised to be one of the week’s hottest college football topics. It didn’t take long for an answer: Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports reports Manziel’s arm is out of a sling and he will play against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

On Tuesday afternoon, coach Kevin Sumlin categorized Manziel as “hopeful” for Saturday’s SEC game at Kyle Field.

Manziel sat out a series early in the fourth quarter in the Aggies’ 45-41 loss to Auburn on Saturday with what appeared to be an injury to his right shoulder. He was hurt while being slammed to the ground on a scramble. Upon his return, he was seen grimacing while attempting to raise his arm, but finished the SEC contest having completed 28 of 38 attempts for 454 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

ELLIS: No bowl ban for Miami

On Tuesday, wide receiver Mike Evans said Manziel’s arm was in a sling at practice, while Travis Labhart said he wore the sling primarily to keep him from throwing passes — because he is such a competitor. Labhart also said Manziel was throwing passes to receivers during drills with his left hand.

What has that 20 yr.old college athlete ever done wrong that no other 19-20 never did after winning the Heisman Trophy? Oh, that's right no other Freshman has ever won the Heisman! Maybe because no one has ever been as dynamic, competitive and outright exciting to watch as Johnny Football. The competitive heart that kid has probably eclipses anything any of you can even begin to imagine. That young man would play with both arms in slings if he thought he was the best chance to help his team win. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence could tell that kid hurt but was willing to do whatever he could to win that game. I knew the second he hit the ground that he was probably injured, an AC joint strain hurts like hell but as he demonstrated, ssomeone willing to endure the pain can still throw. Before any of you lame asses comment that I have a man crush on him just realize that I can see and appreciate a competitive spirit that few possesses and many degrade out of their own insecurities with their own sense of self and their own pitiful contribution to society. Men and women with the competitiveness of JM are the kinds of people who win games, lead companies and win wars

Of course there is nothing wrong with him...."love me, want me, give me all your attention"  This guy is a puke.  I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Yes, this a hole has some skills, but he is also one of the luckiest QB's we've seen in awhile.  I can't count how many times he has thrown the ball up and one of his receivers comes down with it.  So, sports announcers everywhere....stop with the "Oh, man...and Oh, wow,  Johnny football does it again...!"  It's like every Sat I listen to these announcers and they have some kind of man crush on this puke.  I don't get it.

He should sign the sling, give it to a friend & have them sell it on ebay and then tell everyone that he had nothing to do with it.

@carjax1202 Now that is funny.  You get this bitter over a twenty year old college kid?   You must really be miserable when something that truly matters in life goes wrong.

@carjax1202 I couldn't agree more. Also, he is totally milking this injury to curry favor with the Heisman. If he was in that much pain, I am sorry but no one would have allowed him to go back into the game.
