The Houston Texans cut three rookie players on Monday for a violation of team rules at the team hotel in Kansas City, the team announced.

The Texans lost to the Chiefs 17-16 on Sunday.

The team waived defensive end Sam Montgomery, linebacker Willie Jefferson, and running back Cierre Wood.  All three players were sent home Sunday morning before the Texans game.

Montgomery was a third round pick out of LSU in April’s NFL Draft. Jefferson and Wood were undrafted rookies.

The team did not state what kind of rules the players violated. The Texans are 2-5 going into their bye week, having lost five games in row.

Actually, they were smoking "a substance" in the hotel restroom after curfew.

They probably yelled "Schaub sucks!" in the hotel lobby.
