Packers’ tight end Jermichael Finley is not expected to need surgery after suffering a serious neck injury on Sunday, USA TODAY reports.

Finley was taken off the field on a backboard after lowering his head while being hit by Browns’ safety Tashaun Gipson. Finley has been in an intensive care unit since the incident, but so far all tests have been negative and he has regained feeling in all of his extremities.

The extent of Finley’s injury is still unknown, however, and tests are still underway, so it is unclear when he will be able to return to action.  NFL.com‘s Ian Rapoport has reported that Finley will be released from the ICU today and is able to walk freely.

Finley is in his sixth season in the league, all with Green Bay, and has 25 receptions and 3 touchdowns so far this year.

Loved this hit and it was definitely clean. My advice to that loudmouth Finley would be to toughen up.

Football, the true SURVIVOR game.  The injuries are getting a more than a little scary.  How many players are out for the season now?  The number is staggering.  And some people want to extend the season.  If anything, it should be shorter so that there are some players left for the playoffs.

I've never heard of people in ICU being able to walk around.  Am I the only person to whom this doesn't make any sense?

1st choice would have been Rodgers but no complaints on Finley, good riddance.

Ramirez, scum and subhuman are the only words to describe your sentiment that equates gloating with paralysis.  No conscience at all. Hate to meet you. Yuckyuckyuck.

@ElvisHitler The irony of you calling him a loudmouth is cracking me up. You are a tool.

@j7apple Don't worry about him; we should actually feel badly for him.  He's simply a little pest crying for attention, with way too much time on his hands....having nothing fun/constructive to do.  Online is his only escape from his sad real world.  Oh no, I'm giving him the attention he craves, the attention he never received....what a joke....haha

@j7apple Ban someone with a differing opinion than yours? Sounds like gestapo tactics. Don't be a nazi sympathizer j7

@bobinpowell Then you don't know much about the ICU. People are there who need to be monitored constantly. My wife was bitten by a baby rattlesnake (their bites are more dangerous than adults), and she had to be either in the ER or ICU because of her condition and because she was receiving anti venom. She could walk around fine, except that her foot was swollen from being bitten there.

@bobinpowell Precautionary thing. You get into ICU when you complain of chest pains or come in strapped to a backboard with any real or suspected head or neck injury.

@JW8 @ElvisHitler - I hate the Packers but even I agree with JW8 here, you're a tool EH.  Bad hit.  Best wishes to Finley (from a Vikings fan, even).

@x72 @j7apple Not a differing opinion... just juvenile inflammatory crap that isn't pertinent to anything within the forum... he's just kicking the ant hill to watch 'em scramble about. Good riddance to him!
