Report: Allen Iverson to officially announce retirement Oct. 30

Eleven-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champion Allen Iverson will officially announce his retirement at the Philadelphia 76ers home opener against the Miami Heat on Oct. 30, reports ESPN.com.

Iverson, 38, has not appeared in an NBA game since 2010.

Iverson concludes his career with 24,368 points, which ranks 19th all-time. He was the first overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft and won Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 23.5 points a game that season.

He spent his first 10 seasons with the 76ers before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2006. He also spent time with the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.

He also was a first-team All-NBA selection three times, won the NBA All-Star MVP twice and was the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2001. He led the Sixers to the NBA Finals in the 2001 season, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Also, Larry from the South Side will be retiring from church league after this season. Had a pretty good run.
