New York Jets players went to the media yesterday telling how head coach Rex Ryan made a request for the team to abstain from household activities prior to this weekend’s game against New England Patriots.

According to Ryan, that request did not include sex, as was earlier reported.

“I did not tell our players not to have sex,” Ryan said today.

Newly-acquired kick returner Josh Cribbs said that in a team meeting on Wednesday, Ryan wanted his team rested for the Patriots, saying, “Don’t do nothing for your wife.”

“He was like…rest your legs, you go home, don’t do nothing for your wife. Say, baby, next week,” said Cribbs to the New York Daily News. “You’ll take out the trash next week. I’ll take the kids to practice next week but I’ve got to rest for this game.”

Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson said the message also implied abstaining from sex as well.

“Most definitely,” said Richardson told the News with an ear-to-ear grin, when asked if Rex’s message included hanky panky.

“I’m going to tell him to put it on paper so when I give it to my wife, I can be like, Rex said that I don’t got to take out the trash. So he might get a call.”

I think Ryan told his players not to have sex .... with HIS wife.

I think this makes it official.  Ryan is desperate.  Oh, and a wacko, too.

I thought "no sex before the game" ended when the Jets with Namath as QB won the super bowl

OK, so he's a loud mouthed moron, I get that. I still don't undererstand the thing about feet. And what's the deal with his wife's Sanchez tat? The three of them been partying together?

Ryan should also tell his players to prepare themselves to not make the playoffs again.

I wonder how much longer the Jets will put up with Ryan's stupidity.

Ryan is such a clown!

One of the worst Head Coaches in the NFL, although a very good DC!

He should have been fired at the end of last season. He will be fired at the end of this season!

When will the NFL offer grammar lessons to its players so they can sound like the college grads that they supposedly are?

How desperate is he to save face and his job?

Don't forget Sunday Church before the game cause He's the only one that can save this sorry franchise.

Would Joe Namath in  his  prime abstain from hanky panky?

Never, not even for an exhibition game.

Was Sanchez exempt?

He said wife, not current and future baby mamas, so Cromartie didn't take it too hard.

Ryan should abstain from breathing. What a serious waste of money.

@PetY well, when it's the closest you'll get. just like us Lions fans treating every draft as if it's our Super Bowl.

@UleNotknow the current Patriots team is very beatable unfortunately. with Mayo and Wilfolk both out for the season and a WR core that can't hold onto the football, they are very beatable any given sudden. they definitely need to make moves before the post-season if they want to hang with the Broncos.

@Jon8 I don't think he's a bad head coach. A little outspoken, yes, but not bad. If Sanchez is as bad as everyone thinks he is, then I think it's pretty impressive that Ryan took the Jets to two AFC championship games.

He's an excellent defensive mind. I know my Pats are in for a fight this Sunday.

@PeachtreeBart I understand your point but grammar doesn't matter when you are facing a critical 4th down, with your team behind and the season on the line.  The NFL, and all sports are about skill, not speaking prowess. During sessions with the media, I think lots of players are more comfortable using very casual grammar, but hopefully they know how to speak correctly.

@me1   he shouldn't be a head coach, but he would make a good defensive coordinator

hopefully the return of a healthy Gronk will spark something.
