Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks underwent foot surgery on Wednesday to clean out a lingering MRSA infection that kept him out of last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to a tweet Wednesday afternoon from Bucs beat writer Scott Smith, there is no timetable for Nicks’ return. The two-time Pro Bowler initially contracted the infection during training camp in August. Kicker Lawrence Tynes also obtained the MRSA infection and remains out on antibiotics to deal with it. As a result, the NFLPA has filed a grievance against the Bucs for alleged mistreatment of Tynes’ situation.

Tampa Bay plays Sunday at Atlanta. In Nicks’ place, the Bucs could either use Patrick Omameh or center Jeremy Zuttah as a replacement. It’s unclear whether right guard Davin Joseph will be available for Sunday’s game, as he missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury and is considered day-to-day.
