Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly seemed to leave the door open to the possibility of Nick Foles getting another start at quarterback this weekend, but he said it would depend on the health of regular starter Michael Vick.

“Depends on where we are from a health, depth standpoint,” Kelly told reporters Monday, according to Philly.com.  “… Until we know what the health is I’m not saying what anybody or anybody is.”

Foles filled in admirably for Vick for the second straight week on Sunday, leading the Eagles to a 31-20 win over the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Foles completed 22 of 31 passes for 296 yards. He had three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Vick injured his hamstring in the Eagles’ Oct. 6 game against the New York Giants. Vick dressed for Sunday’s game, but Kelly said that he only would have played in an emergency — if both Foles and backup Matt Barkley were injured.

Adding another wrinkle into the budding quarterback controversy, Kelly dismissed comments from Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who said that Kelly had made it clear that Vick is the starter when he’s healthy.

“I have no idea what he’s talking about,” Kelly said. “Me and LeSean, we didn’t talk about anything like that after the game so I don’t know where the reference of after the game, I said that, so I don’t know.”

Vick is probably the best backup QB in the league -  but a starter? - no way. Fit for his Oregon style offense or not Kelly should go with Foles.

Vick is Fool's Gold.  Kelly isn't the first coach to fall for Vick's flash only to find that Vick's not what he thinks he is.

@PhillyPenn QB's like Vick can be a dynamite catalyst for an offense a la Kapernick, RGIII, ect... but QB's like Foles are more of a long term solution as they are much less prone to injuries that legit pocket QB's don't face as readily.
