The Dallas Police Department is investigating a scuffle at a local charter school after a school employee said he was grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground by NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Sanders, a former Dallas Cowboys defensive back, is a co-founder of the charter school, Prime Prep Academy.

Kevin Jefferson, the alleged victim, said he was in a faculty meeting with Sanders and other administrators and teachers when the alleged incident occurred, according to the report.

Sanders got upset that some athletes were not doing well, academically, Jefferson said and he and the former two-sport star got into a verbal disagreement.

“He walked back to the back of the classroom to where I was sitting in a desk,” Jefferson told the Morning News. “As he got closer to me, I stood up because he was kind of standing over me and he just kind of kept talking to me and at me and then he just grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground. Some people had to get him off of me.”

Jefferson said that he went to the hospital to see if he had any injuries as a result of the alleged incident. He also said that he might pursue legal action against Sanders.

And they said Neon Dion didn't like physical contact aka tackling :-)

Why is Deion classified as only a former "Dallas Cowboys" defensive back? He played for other teams too.

Oooh baby, I smell a lawsuit. Better pay up, Neon!

Deion named his daughter Deiondra.  He named his charter school Prime Prep.  Could he BE any more full of himself?  No he could not.  And why was Deion so angry?  Because a student's poor grades will probably make him academically ineligible for some sport.  He doens't actually care about the student's academic progress, just that his grades are good enough for him to play.  Kind of sad.

Time to string Neon Deion up! He can do the Heisman pose while he dangles.

GOOD FOR YOU Dion!  Too many educators are hell bent on mediocrity, our society is consistently harder on everything else but, often treat educators with kids gloves.  Yes, I do feel teachers and staff are underpaid however if you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen.  Our future is directly tied to our children, we need to toughen up in many ways.  And, if this staff member in any way was trying to downplay the focus of education, that itself deserves a neck grab.

"Kevin Jefferson, the alleged victim, said he was in a faculty meeting with Sanders and other administrators and teachers when the alleged incident occurred"

There's the key. If there are a number of eyewitnesses, then the case should be pretty much cut-and-dried.

You people who are bitching about extraneous lawsuits, blah blah blah, really have no freaking idea what actually happened and probably ought to just keep your traps shut.

Jefferson is going for the money with a sleazy lawyer who is going for the money too. I hope Sanders counter sues and breaks the guy.

Sanders hit someone? His coaches tried for years to get him to do that !

Step 1: Provoke/bait a celebrity to the point where they put their hands on you.

Step 2: Visit "Dr. Nick" and get a neck brace and some crutches.

Step 3: Sue for the mental anguish caused by having to fake an injury and the fear that if you dont get enough money from the settlement that you will have to do it all over again.

.

It is beyond time that the civil litigation floodgates are closed.

Thats the first time Deion ever hit anyone!

Um....NO, you went to have medical back up for the upcoming lawsuit.

Who could possibly have seen trouble at this school? Deionis a punk.

Deion "kind of" threw me to the ground and he was "kind of" standing over me and he just "kind of" kept talking to me. What's with all the "kind ofs?" Either he did or he didn't. Athletes and wannabes today all qualify their comments with "kind of" because they want to soften the impact of what they say while thereby minimizing their responsibility/risk. What  a bunch of limp wrists! In any case, Deion should serve a stretch in the joint (even if he's not guilty) and he can take his BFF Michael Irvin with him. I kind of feel strongly about it.

Not possible. Mr. Saunders (Sawnders as they say it in England) is a man of God who would never do that. Are you sure you didn't fall down at the sight of him high-stepping through the room in a Zubaz suit? Oh. And snitches get stitches

I hate how the NFL tries to make this thug out to be Mr. Nice. They do this with a lot of a-holes and criminals. Michael Irvin anybody? I'm all about forgiveness, but do we really need to make media stars out of these guys? There are so many other more worthy athletes. For every Tony Dungy there are three Dieon Sanders.

Deion didn't grab him by the throat, Deion fell to the ground and the guy tripped over him.  Everyone knows that's the only way Deion can take anyone down.

@rbtmarshallSome people had to get him off of me. Yes, we were all attending this meeting and he attempted to murder me in front of everybody! Deion wasn't successful being as stupid as Kevin Jefferson suggests. There is more to the story than Kevin is saying.

@JustMowbray Maybe because the incident occurred in Dallas?   Or maybe because these writers like to see you chronic complainers get your shorts in a knot over just about anything.

@John4 except he got upset BECAUSE the students were not doing well academically - not in sports. You win the false assumption of the day award. Congrats.

DoubleYellowDog

I didn't read this the same way as you, Yoshikowaruko. Sanders was upset the kid wants doing well academically. That translates to being the school or teacher's fault, therefore, the kid can't play due to poor grades.

sanitarium869
sanitarium869

@YoshikoWaruko First of all, you spelled his name wrong. Ironic that this is an article involving education. Secondly, Good for him? He's a grown man, in a school of all places - he should be able to use his big boy words without choke slamming someone to the floor. Additionally, our future IS tied to our children, so your 'cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen' policy for teachers just perpetuates the revolving door of underpaid teachers, which does no good for the kids. I sincerely hope you aren't responsible for any children. Yours or otherwise.

@Richard--Ramirez I say just string him up. Always worked in the past when they got too "uppity", if you know what I mean. Lynch mob assemble!

closetjaysfan
closetjaysfan

yeah... wasn't saying Sanders didn't assault him.  My issue is with the pending lawsuit and more importantly the INSANE claim for damages that we all know is coming.

Lamar Odem:  $565,000 lawsuit for breaking a $15,000 camera (all caught on tape)

Fred Davis: $350,000 ($20,000 was awarded for dumping juice on a lady at a nightcub)

Kanye West, Kobe Bryant, Lesean McCoy and the list goes on....

John4
John4

@JimKirkwood1 Actually, no, he did not hit him.  Just like his "tackling" from his NFL days, he grabbed the guy and got him to the ground.  Deion doesn't tackle or hit.

@closetjaysfan  1. See news story based on incomplete evidence and "alleged this" and "alleged that".

 2. Jump to conclusion about who was at fault, based on ... well, based on nothing.

3. Overreact and post ridiculous scenario about what you think might have happened, based on ... well, again based on nothing.

4. Draw outlandish conclusion about society at large based on ... well, darn it, based on nothing again.

abigsoxfan

@closetjaysfan Frivolous lawsuits bug the hell out of me too. Sounds though as Deion made the first violent move here. And I'll never forget the baseball game many years ago against the White Sox where Neon Deion dogged it down the line on a ground out and Carlton Fisk offended by Neon's lack of respect of for the game Fisk called him out on it and Neon not liking being shown up by somebody who had more baseball in his little finger than Neon had in his entire body nearly went at it with him. Discretion being the better part of valor (Fisk being much bigger than Neon) he ultimately backed down. But is he a hot head? Most definitely.

@closetjaysfan Maybe if these year-round tanned friends of ours could learn to control themselves, they wouldn't have to worry about being sued -- like the rest of us. But nah, these naggers are just too dumb for that.
