Grammy Award-winning musician Sheryl Crow watched disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong receive a blood transfusion in 2005 and later told federal investigators, according to a book that is set to be released next week.

The New York Daily News reports that Crow, who was dating Armstrong at the time, spoke with a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator and that he gave her a proffer agreement, which is document that protects witnesses from criminal prosecution if they cooperate with an investigation.

The book,”Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France, and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever,” written by Wall Street Journal reporters Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O’Connell, details Armstrong’s systematic doping with his teammates that propelled Armstrong to seven straight Tour de France wins. He was later stripped of those titles and banned from the sport for life.

“Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it,” according to excerpts from the book. “He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team’s doping program. He explained that it was simply part of the sport – that all cyclists were doing the same thing.”

Armstrong admitted to doping in a television interview with Oprah Winfrey in January.

They should toss the no talent ska** in the brig for obstruction of justice. They should add an additional dime to her sentence on the charge of unlawfully impersonating a musician.

I'm sure she shot him in his bum w/ roids too and maybe under belly flap w/ HGH. :P  Not sure why anyone is just now releasing a book, David Walsh already divulged about anyone had to know in "From Lance to Landis: Inside the American Doping Controversy at the Tour De France".  Of course 99% of all Americans thought he had an agenda of picking on the poor American rider!

Do you people really expect Sheryl Crow should go to jail in order to protect Lance Armstrong? Lance should of done in cheating in private.

No where did it say that Cheryl is writing the book or that she just now told.  She told the investigators during the investigation.  Let's go back to the break-up she was just diagnosed with cancer and he dumped her stating that he did not want to put his kids thru it again.  He has went through women like teammates on his cycling team.

I say that and yes I had Livestrong bracelets, bought both of his books and cheered for him.  I do not believe he should have been stripped of titles but he did her wrong.

Every person in that sport cheats.   what's the big deal?

I always figured she knew....she was so close to the situation, she must have known....but why wait 8 years to tell the truth?

The whole sport needs to make a confession. No one could win in the last 10-15 years without cheating. Everybody at the top had to cheat to be competitive. Pounding on Armstrong is just a diversion, although it is kind of fun.

Why is this even news?  He has already fully admitted to doping, the fact that she saw it once does not bring anything new to the story.  Done and played out..... Move on.

His whole sport was dirty. I don't care that he was cheating. They all were and a lot still are. This story is played out.

I don't care.  The man only had one ball.  Just calk it up in my book that he needed that extra edge for missing a little big of the production of some hormone or something.

Don't tell people about my transfusing, and I won't tell people about your lip sync in concert.  Its part of our respective business normal practices anyway right?  So what's the big deal?

This story smells like BS. Why you ask? Why would Crow need a proffer agreement for witnessing a blood transfusion? A transfusion itself certainly isn't illegal.

Armstrong is still a cheat anyways, so what this story proves is nothing.

Time for a Crow to be a stool pigeon.

So when he lied about it, he was really protecting the whole sport, not just ch own a.

Lance Armstrong... the biggest cheaters in sports history

Crow is more of a fraud as a musician than Armstrong is as a cyclist...

@GeoffreyHolland Good point. The only thing that makes sense is if she had previously stated, under oath, that she hadn't seen anything.

@GeoffreyHolland The blood transfusion is cheating, basically they take his blood out, put oxegyn into in and then put it back into him, it's called blood doping... its illegal in cycling.

@mikepat1911 na go back to the ref's in the NBA trying to fix games with the way they make their calls.  That is a bigger cheat.  Or the guys who would try and fix the game with bad play in key moments ect.

@muser Yup, she got her break by laying down for Jagger and Clapton...and that guitar she brings onstage is nothing more than a prop. Fraud is right on the money.

@TimHarb @mikepat1911  Wouldn't the White Sox issue be bigger?? Al three are ridiculous, however I can understand Armstrong's most as I am sure he was not the only one...  Like drugs in baseball, to many doing it (baseball should not have records for HR's anyway until the outfields are all teh same size).

@Mkmck @muser - I agree with both of your comments. However, I would rather have to listen to Sheryl Crow than the current bunch of annoyances that represent women in Top 40 radio in 2013 (Beyonce, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc.) any time. Of course, give me Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Sharon Jones or Edith Piaf any time.

I had forgotten who Sheryl Crow was.

@decredico Are you a seer? How do you even know what he's listening to?

@Mkmck @brighat @muser you're fooling yourself as xm is nothing other than older commercial garbage and the songs themselves are the commercials, fool

Mkmck

@brighat @Mkmck @muser That's why I have XM radio. I can't tell you the last time I listened to Top 40 radio. Better music on the channels I listen to, and no commercials.
